Ok, yesterday I watched this episode. The first family had a mom and a dad and two teenage boys as well as a 15 mo. old baby. ALL of them except the baby addicted to heroine and living in a homeless shelter. The parents were high school sweethearts and used to be your typical middle class family. I found Oprah a little distant from the issue etc. I don't think she even thought about these people as being slaves to the drug and that they actually were sick if they did not take it. At one point she was like well money for rehab how much does it cost to stay on the drug, as if they were going to just use that money and get off of the drug. Sure it makes sense, but the addiction is so horrible that the treatment would be alot more than it costs to do the drug per day. She just came across kind of clueless to me, I don't think she once put herself in thier place. Sure they made that decision to do the drug, and it was a horrible one but the task at hand was how to get them off of it. I have never done it, nor would I if offered, but Oprah really rubbed me the wrong way. These people lost everything and yes at first they had a choice but now they just can't quit without medical help.
