What happened to Supernatural?

I got hooked on Supernatural from the first episode. I sat there at the edge of my seat in suspense. I was amazed that this was on television and excited at the idea of this show. I faithfully watched and when Supernatural was on the same time as Grey's Anatomy, I gave up Grey's without even looking back. This season I looked forward to the struggle between the brothers, good and evil , god and satan, the whole nine yards. The first episode was disappointing. I told myself, Ok, sometimes boring episodes happen next week will be better. Well weeks later and I am barely able to hold out hope that this show is going to reclaim what it used to have. Exciting shows, glimpses of humor and plenty of paranormal exploration. Am I alone in this?? Some say my expectations are too high. I feel they set the bar high the first season but this season they have really lost me. What do you think?

I can see your point about Supernatural, but I'm still interested in what they're doing. I agree that the level of humour seen in past seasons isn't the same, but I am interested in the direction they've taken. They are exploring a whole new direction of the supernatural - the notion of "good." Sam and Dean Winchester have always fought off the "bad guys." Now there is a new side to the fight, and it seems like the jury is still out on whether the good guys are actually good!My main concern is that they seem to have gotten away from this story line lately. It seems to just be hanging in mid air. I hope they have plans to get back to that story arc soon! Thanks for a great topic!

This season hasn't been my favorite either, but it's still an interesting direction. Especially with Sammy using his powers more and in increasingly exciting ways. We can blame the change in style and direction of the show on the writer's strike, lol. The old Supernatural's still there, it's just that the boys have some distance between them in their relationship now..and their issues, which were always present before, have grown to maturity...now we just gotta see what happens, pretty much, xD I mostly only glaze over during the more "silly" episodes, myself. The best humor, interaction, character development, and lines are always said during regular gritty "it's just another job" or "we've gotta save the world" type episodes. Which we've had slightly less of, and has more "silly" type episodes designed to give us a little more insight into the world of Supernatural. The rest can be chocked up to the Angels throwing in their own freaky element into the mix.

well maybe with showing a repeat (and a good one) the other night it means they will get back on track with some good episodes.

Hi. NuttyMomma. I personally, loved the first season, when Sam's girlfriend was murdered by the demon by the red fire. But as the show becomes deeper into the series where they are dealing with the angel, Zecharias, this show loses me. I still get confused when I watch this show. I love all of the episodes though. They are all creepy and Dean never gets tired. Sam and Dean make a great team!
