Most of us must have played some game or other during our childhood and school days. We used to play basketball, football, cricket which was our favourite game, hide and seek, marbles and catch as you can. We also would play a game called " lagori " in which 2 teams would stand opposite each other and in between them a samall pile of flat stones would be kept. then after tossing a coin the winnin side would hurl a tennis ball at the stones. In case he missed then a chance to hurl the ball would be given to the opp team. If the stones were hit then the team that hit them would chase the other members throwing the ball at them. If the ball hit any player then he was " out" and would have to sit aside. Then the team that was being chased would try to pile up the stones all the time avoiding the ball. If they were successful then they would shout " lagori " and the game would end. It was a fast paced, exciting and fun filled game. What games did you mylotters play in you childhood? Please share.

Hello veejay19! Oh, you made me miss my childhood because of this discussion. When I was still in elementary I used to play chinese garter and skipping rope. I was in good in playing those games. My classmates even want me to be in their group but then now, it's too hard anymore. I can't even jump and I easily got tired. Oh, I miss those times..

There are so many games we used to play..like "patintero" explaining what are those will take time..but ok i will hahaa there must be two set of teams..and of course there would be defense and offense..one team will guard and the other team must pass through with the other team and there are lines where they should stay and should not cross..quite complicated to explain here but easier if visually shown lol..
one game would be "langit at lupa" or in english " sky and earth!" lol it sounds funny but it is fun to play and tiring. It is a very energetic games which requires running and running and running and jumping. haha one is "IT" and chases other teams players..and the IT was able to touch someone who is not on top of somthing he is the next IT! For example. A is the IT and she must chase her other players B, C and D...but is B is on top of a chair or a table or a sofa or a cabinet lol player B cannot be touched...but if B is on the floor or earth and A was able to touch him..B is the next IT! hahah it is a very tiring game!!!lol but it is funny....
There are still so many games that we use to play..and i miss playing them!

Hi jazzy, thanks for your response. Your description of the game was a bit confusing but after reading a few times i syarted getting the idea. It sounds very exciting and fun too. I can imagine you guys rolling on the floor with laughter during the game. Childhood days were great weren`t they? I also wish to thank all the Mylotters who have responded to this discussion as it will take a long time to reply to all of them individually.

When I was a child, we had no pc, or other power games. The only game for us is the table tennis. After school, just set two desks, and start playing in the classroom. The outdoor game for girls is the rope, and the rubber string games. Two persons hold at two ends, and we took turns to jump in and out. That was a lot of fun.
Seems kids of today will also find fun in these traditional games. Why only the tv and computer?

We played lots of games especially at school as we always had a big play yard.
At school there was tetherball, dodgeball, basketball, handball, fist ball, softball, hop scotch, jump rope, swings, bars and monkey bars, volleyball, marbles, tag, hide and seek and a lot more.
When we were home and playing with the neighborhood kids we would get a bit more inventive when we weren't playing a "ball" game. Cowboys and Indians, secret agent, running down the street for no apparent reason screaming looking like complete idiots that needed to be put in an asylum! Dolls, race cars, bike races and the list could go on forever!
I must say your "lagori" sounds interesting, I've never heard anything like it! ;)

Yes, lagori was a fun game which we used to play as kids in Mumbai, India. We went really wild when playing it and used to run screaming at the top of our voices. During our childhood days we used to read a lot of comics and our heroes were Robinhood and of course all the cowboy characters so we would play cowboy and indians as you did. One of our friends had a bungalow with a nice garden and it is there that we played some of the games.lol

My favorite game from childhood was kickball. And what is so ironic about this is recently in our local "communities" announcement paper there was an Adult kickball league and you just had to gather up 8-9 people (doesn't matter on skill level either) pay the entry fee and show up at a designated park every Sunday afternoon. I was so about doing this, but not so much everyone else I know was. Which was sad, because I think it would have been a blast to kick the ball and run the bases...I was a stellar kicker back in the day.

As a child I loved to play basketball, hide and seek, dodge ball, football, pick em up bust em up (a rough style of football). You take a group of guys, take a football throw it in the air, and the person that gets the football, tries to safely reach each end zone. Any thing went, and those were the days when you take a licking and kept on ticking. I loved Atari games as well, like Donkey Kong, Centipede, pitfall (although there is no end to this game). Later I became very fond of fighting type games like Street Fighter and Kung Fu. Then it switched over to everyday classics like tetris, monopoly, checkers, chess and my all time favorite spades game. We used to play those games to the wee hours of the early morning in the summertime when everyone was out of school. We have video game tournaments to see who could be the best. Ahhhh, those were the days. Thanks for allow me to reminence for a moment.

We played musical chairs and pass the parcel. I loved these. Also hide and seek. And much later on, spin the bottle.

It seems such a long time ago, yet so fresh in my memory. Yes, we played marbles and I won and lost my fair shair of them. We also played wrestling, and there were one or two bruises. I think the most dangerous game we ever played was grenades - we used to throw stones from behind walls at each other. Occasionally, one of us would get hit and have a nasty bruise, but nobody got really badly hurt. It taught us to be very vigilant I must say. Derek

Wow! Did you ever bring back fond memories!
We played games called 'King of the Hill', 'Hide and Seek', 'Simon Says', Scavanger Hunt', 'Hot Potato, Cold Potato' 'Dodge Ball' and 'Hopscotch'.
It would take more energy than I have right now to describe them all, but I can tell you that they were great fun!
Oh, what memories! Thanks for the great discussion!
