Should we consider nuclear energy or develop wind and solar energy?

Due to increasing population and increase in demand for electricity, household and industrial sector have increased demand for energy. Our government have considered reviving the mothballed nuclear plant near a dormant volcano. Is it wise to open the nuclear facility or is it better to build more wind turbines and solar energy facilities? Can we gradually stop being dependent to fossil fuels?
