I love ramen! Its the perfect thing to make in 3 minutes on your own at night, morn or evening.
But i heard rumours that they're not good for health - that their preservatives and chemicals is bad.
Do they really have all that?
Is it true?

I think both are harmful if we eat it daily.
The noodles themselves are pretty harmless for children, except for the refined flour part. But the MSG, or monosodium glutamate, which enhances the flavour used to improve the taste of sweet, salty, bitter, or sour foods are harmful!
Anything instant we should avoid outright for they contain some amount of trans fat which is bad for us.
Happy eating healthy.

MSG is creating storms and FDA is trying to enforce some kinda law soon. This is indeed harmful and so is trans fat.
Thanks.

Yes it is bad for our health because the nooddes contains wax and the soup has monosodium glutamate. I do eat maggi nooldes once in a while...it's bad but it's tasty...ahahaha....strangely...food that are not so healthy taste good....heee !! But I try avoid buying it so instead I will have some spare biscuits or bread in the kitchen if I am hungry. Come to think of it I haven't eaten maggi noodles for the past 5 months......

It should be alright if you cook the noodle the right way before consuming it, and avoid or reduce using the small additional spice package come with it, excessive consumption of those favor enhancing chemical substances will cause migraine and hair loss in man.

well I heard that these noiodles are not good for health and I think it is true. My daughter really loves them, but I am not buying noodles for her, since they told me that it is not healthy. However i think that if you eat once in a while it won't make any harm, try to not eat too much.

I do too. I love it and my parents never used to buy them for me as they heard the rumors about the preservatives. But now we buy it often as i study at night and making it is easy.
I've stopped ever since i started this thread though.
Thanks for the advice.
Happy mylotting :)

well like a fellow mylotter has mentioned.. anything in excess is bad for you.
in the case of instant noodles. I've heard of the rumour. Of the "wax" and stuff that if you drink the soup of your noodles, you're indirectly consuming the "wax". When it solidifies, this "wax" latches onto your organs and *tadaaa* you get preserved organs.
That's what i've heard though.

Whoa!
They should be sued if its true!
The chemicals in today's fast food seems to decrease the decomposition rate of the body when its cremated. I heard this is troublesome as even after 5 years, the body will not have decomposed much, which leads to problems in the graveyard management.

Noodles could be bad for you if you eat them regularly and you don't supply your body with healthier, naturally occurring foods such as fruits and vegetables. The problem with such food is that they have already been processed by man and have lost their original nutritional value. They provide you with carbohydrates but are scarce in nutrients. Also, they contain a high amount of saturated fat which is not very good for you. They are just like junk food because they don't contain the right amount and mix of vitamins and minerals. The processing have turned them into simple carbohydrates which you shouldn't opt for since they don't contain antioxidants to sweep away disease causing substances, or "free radicals". Our body undergoes around 10,000 free radical hits daily so we should pile up on complex carbohydrates which also give us sustained energy throughout the day, and protect our cells from damage. If you have a better choice, go for fresh fruits, vegetables, and fish. If you want to eat noodles sometimes, check out the label. Be sure it says that it doesn't contain any preservatives.

Thanks. I had no idea about all that!
I wasn't able to find anything about preservatives added on top ramen. But it does have all kinds of nutritional facts. i wonder if its all true or just a bluff.
I did find: As per PFA Ministry of health regulations
Thanks for your time and insight.
Happy mylotting.

It is not good for the health if we do eat noodles such like this everyday. Your digestive system will suffer because this kinds of foods are with preservative and chemicals.
Nothing is natural there even if they say it has vegetables and rich in Vit. blah blah blah. It is still unhealthy to depend on noodles. Since you like noodles like i do, better limit you intake.
Let's just say that 2 noodle packs are good for a week. By the way, you can opt to try some other kinds of noodles like pansit guisado or lomi or noodles that your mom used to cook and prepare.
