I was reading in the local news on CNN this morning about a car accident that happened early Tuesday evening. It was a two vehicle collision, where a mother with a 4 month old and 21 month old were hit when a driver of a pick up truck ran a stop sign and collided with her car. The 4 month old boy died later at the hospital, and the mother and other child were listed as injured. Now, according to the report, neither child was properly restrained. I read all of the hurtful comments toward the mother at the bottom of the page, then read a response by someone who claimed to be the aunt of the two children. She was explaining that the mother took her children out of the carseats after the accident, and was adminestering CPR to the youngest. She also said that the 21 month old girl had bruising from where the carseat straps had been. I know how the highway patrol officers can be, and if neither child was in a carseat when they arrived, they will put in the report that they were un-restrained when the accident took place. The people making these comments only know of what the news article says, and it may not be exactly what happened. Do you find that you develop opinions over what the news or rumors say, or do you wait and see what transpires later about the story?

Yes, I'm very judgmental when it comes to these things - rumors and news and such. I think it's natural in humans to jump to conclusions based on the limited information we have. It's normal, but it doesn't mean that it's good. It's a bad habit that I strive to get rid of, I should be more careful to accept stories from all the sides and angles before I form an opinion or that I should be open minded enough to reform my opinion when new information is presented. Thanks for the response on my discussion! http://thingswelovetohate.blogspot.com http://canihascheeseburger.blogspot.com
