Anyone here using Twitter to make money?

I must admit when I first saw Twitter, I thought, what a great way to send my marketing messages to thousands of people! Troubel is 95% of the people at Twitter are doing the same thing.
Then I realised what a great socializing medium it is and the thoughts of making a fast buck faded. I really enjoy the interaction of like-minded people and would go so far as to say I have made some 'frewinds' there.
I have to ignore the spammy, grq type stuff but I do that everywhere anyway and concentrate on forging real relationships.
Anyone else trying to make this work for them and have you had any success?

As you know I am one of your Twitter followers (ruthbelena). I don't have a huge following on Twitter yet, but I do get one or two new followers every day.
I use a twitter tool on two of my blogs, to automatically tweet each new post I make. I get more traffic to those blogs, and I make a little money from blogging, so Twitter does help my income that way.
Most of the people I follow are writers, journalists, broadcasters, performers, professional bloggers and people in the news media, so most of the tweets I receive are entertaining, informative or useful to me.
I have not tried using Twitter to market anything. I am now setting up a website, and I plan to try some affiliate marketing in the future. I don't know if Twitter would help me to earn as an affiliate, I would not want to spam users with direct marketing. I shall continue to use Twitter for networking, as that has much value for me.

Sorry I don't know its name. My Blog has Twitter tools installed as an option in the dashboard. I just checked the box that said "Enable option to create a tweet when you post in your blog?"

Twitter is kinda like an instant messenger site thing. You can get followers to follow you as your friend and you can post links or blog updates like a feed. This is a good way to get more views to your blog. Why don't you sign up and try it. I am already a member and it is fun and gets me a few extra comments on my blog.

I agree. You only have 140 characters to make each post and you can include a blog or mylot url.
For instance you might post something like
'Just catching up with my friends at Mylot' and then include your url. This works well for me at Yuwie, too.

I have thought about joining twitter but have not done so yet. I am not sure how I feel about letting everyone online know what site and what I am doing. Not that I am doing anything wrong I just do not see the real point in it. I know people have made money from it and I know people will contintue to do so. I guess it depends on what your niche is. To me I like to write articles online and that is how I make money. So far it has worked good but as for a twitter thing maybe later but for now I am gonna sit back and kind watch first ;) take care and happy mylotting to you MichaelJay

As I see it, the beauty of Twitter for you would be that you create a post saying something like 'Just put the finishing touches to my blog' and then give the url. As long as it's in 140 characters it will get posted and all your 'followers' will know you have posted.
Lots of folks there are using it as a promotion tool for their websites or blogs.
Hope this helps.
