what is the one thing every child should be taught

We were discussing this in my class last night and my response was honesty. I believe every child should know how to be honest. Not only to be honest with others but also just to be honest to themselves. If you are honest with yourself you will make it so much further in life. Being honest with others will definitely make you a better person and also keep you from having problems in the future. What do you think should be the one thing every child should be taught?
