do you think of different solutions for every day objects? we have a book case in our coat/shoe cloest and each family member has a shelf for their shoes. (it sure saves space!) what creative things do you do around your house to save space and or money? please share your ideas!

Once we had a steep space at the top of the basement stairs off the kitchen and I made some shelves to put in there (Had the lumber cut to size and put in shims to hold the shelves and painted every thing white). I don't know how creative that was but it turned a totally useless space into a pretty good little pantry. We don't live in that house any more but I still miss that little pantry sometimes.

Wow that is actually very creative! My fiance and I have a pringles can as our piggy bank. Actually two to designate change vs. bills. It's funny though as we have piggy banks in our room but we don't use them instead we use the pringles can. Other then that, I am not quite sure. I guess if you are crafty in things like needlework you can make things to help keep storage or to clean with. Their are patterns for swiffer sheets for crochet on the web, and there are grocery bag holders, you can crochet your own shopping bag. Both economical and ecofriendly! Great discussion! Have a wonderful day and happy mylotting to you!

What a great idea you have there. I keep my many skeins of yarn in an extra bedroom in plastic stackers. They are bins that have an opening at the top and I place the yarn end up so I can find colors easily. It works very well for me when I am working on a project that requires using several colors of yarn. Right now I have 4 bins stacked in groups of 2's doubled up. I have room to add more but don't need to right now. In the past I spent so much time searching through yarn that was tangled or simply not where I thought it was so this idea works well for me.

that is really interesting, I don't usually do that except for out of dire necessity, we have a book shelf in the bathroom where we store can goods because their is no other space for them.

It is always good to be creative. It not only saves space and money, it also keeps your life from being boring. I like to do things around the house, when I am in the house. I use my creativity in my farm where I have to deal with many interesting problems. Cheers!!

Hey cher! I love that idea! Sounds like something I would do too if I could fit one in my closet! I have those small closets with sliding doors so that would never work! I try to come up with all sorts of things to save space and money! I just sort of make them up as I go! I will be watching tv in bed and just lying there looking around the room and thinking of some way to improve the clutter and something will come to me! Like today I was trying to figure out a way to fix up the mess on the top of the dressers to make it neater! I have some ideas, but I will now have to look for something that will work in the small area that I have like some sort of holder for papers that will look nice, but function effectively! I think I may have my work cut out for me! I'll come up with something! If you have any ideas, please let me know!

If I have a space on the wall where nothing fits, and I need storage space, I make paper mache shelf units. The nice thing about making paper mache things is that you can make them any size or shape you want, and it doesn't cost anything! I have also bought wooden boxes and put wheels on them so that they can be moved somewhere else. These are great because you can use them for storage and sit on them.

things in the home should have their own proper places. after using them, they must be put back to their places. in my case, i let my father build hanging cabinets so that things which are not used frequently will be put in the hanging cabinets so that they will not be crowding anywhere.
