when i was a kid, i don't remember the age, i was a boy, so it was what we refer to as "The Stupid Years!!!"
anyways, we had a fence in the backyard that had a really thick covering of ivy on it.
i mean REALLY THICK covering, the fence was just a regular wooden fence, but the ivy made it like 2 and a half feet wide and about 6 inches higher.
we used to climb up on the roof and jump off, landing on the fence like it was a horse.
this was an especially appropriate stunt if you were playing cops and robbers or something and you had to make the death defying leap to escape your chasers.
luckily no one was ever injured performing the stunt, but you did have to be careful on your landing so you didn't slide all the way over into the neighbors yard.........they had 2 dalmatians that wanted nothing more than to take a bite out of you.
were you ever a childhood stunt person???
what was your most death defying stunt???

I liked to climb my Grandparents trees and hide..sometimes they'd find me and I'd fall to stop them from getting mad at me cause i wasn't suppose to climb since i was a girl..I don't think I got hurt..wait let me ask myself..sorry no ones home..
I'd also go rollerskating..you know the old fashioned way with a skate key and crash into the wall if i'd go to fast...I think i thought i was a crash test dummy...
here's your brownie fix..

I once leapt off the roof of the house while holding an umbrella! (That Mary Poppins is full of crap by the way) I also see bridges I used to jump off of into the river and trees I used to climb and wonder what the hell I was thinking at the time! lol. We just didn't have a developed reasoning back then did we? And of course we all survived just fine. Jeez, I never even broke anything! Nowadays we'll look at a plate of spicy food and think - Ooooooh, this might be a bit risky! WTF happened???

Yeah! Stunt school was GREAT! When I was a kid, we were allowed to roam the neighbourhood - you only went home at teatime (before dark). There was a high cliff we used to love jumping off, into the sea - and the bigger lads used to ride their bikes over it! It seemed like a HUGE cliff, and the adrenalin rush was brilliant. A few years ago I went back to the place I grew up and took my husband down to see the BIG SCARY CLIFF. It had shrunk a lot over 40 years. Sad, that.

So, um, what exactly was stunted in this practice? LOL.
I remember when I was 3 I decided to play Superman (I wasn't too worried about gender labels back then) by tying a blanket around my neck and jumping off the top bunk. I landed on my head on the floor. I remember my mom yelling back asking what happened, and KNOWING enough that she would be MAD if I told her what I did, so I responded "Nothing!" Hurt like the dickens!
My parents also said when I was in 1st grade, I hung upside down by my knees from the top bar of an ten-foot tall swing set that was set in concrete. My mom saw me from the kitchen window, and frantically called for my dad, who had to come out and nonchalantly aske me to come down so I wouldn't freak out and fall.
And then there was the time when I was 3 when I supposedly scaled a 6 foot tall fence into the neighbor's backyard to cuddle the newborn pups of their trained guard dog. Another instance where my dad swears he had to talk me into cooperating because the dog acted like she wanted to take out his throat when he tried to go into the yard.
Funnily enough, I only remember the first instance. LOL.
