I want to buy a new laptop to replace my condemned HP laptop. (Thanks HP for being the source of my misery by selling me a seriously flawed laptop!)
So, I'm defecting to Dell. I think Dell Inspiron 1420 would be a great choice for my budget.
What do you think of my choice? Considering that I want to use it to type my assignments and to create a Cinema 4D project.

I got a 1420, it's great little machine. I'm not too sure though if you can push the graphics capability, but for just typing assignments, that will be a walk in the park for that machine.
thanks

Thanks for your feedback. Great to hear it from a Dell 1420 user.
Just some advice to all: Don't ever buy HP Pavilion models, they're selling laptops which have a very short lifetime because of the flaw in the Nvidia graphic card. Don't repair it, just get a new laptop. It is not worth it since the problem will return even with a new motherboard.

Thanks for your advice! I'll look up the specs later at a computer store in downtown.

Hey hajbru872, if I were you, I'll try to look for other models.
The Dell Inspiron 1420 have an integrated Graphics Accelerator 3100 Nvidia GeForce Go 8400M GS w/ 128MB. Dedicated memory for the video. It cant be expanded.
Why not try the studio series or the XPS line up of Dell. Or, the Vaio of Sony however its quite expensive than Dell.
just my 2 Cents.
