I think it is the money involved with sites like mylot that makes it addictive. Every single person stays online for as much time as possible and post as many messages so that his/her individual earnings are maximised. This is one of the biggest addictive factors attached to the website.

Hmm so you think it's the money factor? How does that explain the tendency for people to become addicted to myspace then?

That's a really good question, Shoreboy!
Here are my thoughts:
With MyLot, there are alot of people who just want to earn some $$$, but, if I were to guess, I'd say it must have something to do with the fact that no one is meeting anyone IN PERSON.
Everyone's on a computer, so it's more relaxed.
No one has to worry about putting on makeup, or worry about colming their hair, brushing their teeth, putting the right clothes on....
It's just people, talking and getting to know one another.
One of the few times I am NOT happy with MyLot or MySpace is when people use them as some sort of "dating service" and try to flirt and meet people on a romantic level-UGH!
That makes me SO IRRITATED.
If you want to meet someone for a romantic relationship, go to a website that is DESIGNED for that kind of thing.
You know? I may just start a thread about that.....

I really don't think it that its addictive I think its that we get so wrapped up in reading what other people think about love, Family, Religion, And life in general that we loose track of the time we spend here I love hearing what the views or on important topics. I like haveing my opinion heard even if its not the same as somebody elses. This is the only site I know that people value what you think. I love it. And the bonus of makeing friends And money.

Hi! I think the reason why sites my Mylot and others are so popular is because a lot of us are isolated either through our work or home situations and being on the Internet gives us a chance to get out there, meet other people, and interact when we normally wouldn't have the opportunity.

You know, that says a lot...we aren't Isolated by any sense of the word, but we do live in a small town and in an apartment complex that would be classified by most as "the projects" of a "ghetto", so we don't have much in common with the local species...I guess discussing interesting topics with intelligent people on here is a good escape...not to menion I've actually done prety well for my first month earnings-wise

it's addictive because there are some discussions that really caught you off guard and made you seriously think about it. And i'm glad that i have the opportunity to share my feelings and opinions out. another benefits is that it's like my own diary...i can say anything i want, knowing that my friends/family will never know LOL

I think that this is a very interesting topic. I have thought about the way in today's day and age we are more separate and more together all at the same time.
We are more separate in our regular lives in that we are hear sending messages and socializing on-line instead of intermingling in real life, but then we are on-line communicating with a mass audience rather than just one or two people.
Personally I love my on-line discussions. I find I can target others that are in tune with me much easier by being able to look up people with the same attitudes and interests. It is so much easier on the net. In real life you have to go through a lot of people before you "connect".
I think we are living in an "information age" and it is in it's birth stage. I feel privileged to be born during this era when all is so new and exciting.
Life is Beautiful.
