No classes on Monday (Feb. 23, 2009) on all levels

Good news to those who don't want to go to school this coming monday! No classes on all levels in public and private schools. Our President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo announced that this coming monday is a special holiday inline with the celebration of the 23rd anniversary of Edsa People Power Revolution. The original date of this event is on February 25 but our president moved it to February 23 so that the holiday will not be sandwiched to the regular school days. Time to celebrate students! Cheers!

Well there's nothing much surprising about this news, usually our president often does this on most of our holidays. PGMA was the only President I know that does this kind of switching most often than not. When our holidays (except religious holidays) falls on or in between weekdays/working or school days expect that she will move the occasion a day after or before the weekend/s (Saturday & Sunday). Main reason for this is to have long weekends (rest) for students and office employees and for businesses to profit more. This is ridiculous in a way that the very essence of our holidays the main reason why we celebrate such occasions are set aside and taken for granted. Most of the masses nowadays don't even know and realize why on certain days there are no classes and offices, and when they do they just utter "Ah nilipat na naman kasi ni PGMA ang holidays". This is so sad especially because most of us now don't even know why we celebrate such occasions. Dates are important because this signifies our historical time frame. Those dates are the ones who reminds us what happened before and why we are here and why we are what we are now. But I'm not a hypocrite, I'm not saying that I'm not happy that there's no classes on Monday, I'm a nursing student and we have a lot of things going on in school and our schedule is very tight, we are already deprived of enough time to sleep to rest our mind, body and soul. We really need a time off. So a day without classes and not required to attend duties is really a blessing... =) And definitely I'll drink to this, CHEERS!!!

That's good for the students they have time to spend recreation. Lucky for those who are already working as they have not made it a holiday.

Hi bharken, good day to you my co-mylot member especially to all my friends here in this site. Well this is my response to your forum topic discussion entitled "No classes on Monday (February 23, 2009) on levels". Well i also watch in the television i see in the news that there will be no classes in moday because that day is the EDSA DAY which is Holiday here in our country. I think many students will be happy because there is no classes and many student will enjoy sleeping and no longer to wake up in the morning to prepare their need in schools. Well me about that no classes on monday? I will be happy because i will have longer time to make money online. Well that's all my response to your forum. Thank you! And happy mylotting to you!
