Why do other people hear our voices differnetly than we do?

We have probably all had this experience. We listen to a tape recording of ourselves talking with some friends. We insist the tape doesn't sound at all like our voice, but everyone else's sounds reasonably accurate.

Haha! It's funny hearing your voice in third person. Yes I agree to you selvaa. Hearing your voice in third person is sooo much different than hearing your voice actually speaking first person. It is because of the resonance inside our head why we perceive our voice to be differently sounding first person than third person. The experience is the same in singing in a karaoke and hearing your voice in the speakers. It's funny though but that thing has really a scientific explanation why it happens. :)

I suppose the easy answer to that is that we're on the inside, and everyone else isn't! I know what you mean though, I couldn't believe it was me when I first heard a recording of myself, I always thought my voice was much nicer. Maybe that's another reason - if we heard what we really sounded like we'd probably not speak very much!
