what should you use "1.5 liters or 1.d liter?

I believe it depends how you intend to use it.
For example,
- I purchased a 1.5 liter bottle of soda.
OR
- This bottle contains 1.5 liters of soda.
I may be wrong but this is how I would do it :) :)

This is a 1.5 liter Bottle...
This bottle Holds 1.5 liters of water.
It depends on the context..the Single Unit of volume is the Liter.
