Non Registered Chihuahuas

I had found a listing online for an 8 week old chihuahua that was for sale, so I told my husband about her. I went to see her and fell in love. The only problem that I have is that the woman had told me that when she bought her female chihuahua, the mother, that the lady didn't have her AKC papers but she was registered. I honestly don's care if she is registered or not because I love her to pieces. So, my husband bought her for me for Valentines Day. Is it really that much of a problem to have a non registered chihuahua or is it just to prove that they are purebreds? I saw both parents and there is no way she is mixed with anything else.

I don't think that papers are necessarily except for like you said if they are pure bred, but even then you'd only need them if you were planning on training them for dog shows. The dog reminds me a little of a chihuahua my fiance and I used to have, and then a little of one we have now! She is very precious and I am sure you are proud to have her. Aren't chihuahua's adorable though?

I wouldn't think it would be a big deal. I have a full bred Schnauzer and he doesn't have papers. You only need papers if your going to show the dog or breed dogs. If you really must get your puppy register you still can. I am not sure of the place that you can do it but it they charge and they need pictures of your dog.
