Hello. I usually listen to heavy metal, ranging from death metal and lighter variations. Lately, I have been getting really into the folk metal genre (a blend of folk music traditions and metal traditions). Some of these bands even put out an occasional "clean" folk album, like Empyrium's "Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays" among others. I am wondering if those of you who listen to folk music could recommend me some bands and songs? It can be standard folk music, but I preference a mellow and darker atmosphere (but thats not necessary).

I forgot to mention that you can always go to youtube to see and hear performances of a lot of artists to get a sense of them, or Amazon.com type in their name, pull up one of their CD's and they usually have clips from them that you can hear.
That way you can get a sense of who you like before you start buying music hoping you'll like it.
