What Are Your Favourite Genres? Who Are Your Favourite Bands?

My favourite genre is probably 80's rock, such as Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard and so on. Many of my friends disagree with me, and alot of my family think I'm way too young to appreciate older music. I don't think that is true, I often don't know what is in the charts as I'm too busy listening to the older music on my iPod! What are your favourite genres and favourite bands and why? Do you agree with me that 80's rock is brilliant, or do you think I'm completely wrong? If so, why?

Hi Jamton! I also am an 80's junkie, and I do love the rock and roll that came out of that era! I would have to say that I leaned more towards the new wave music, though even back in the 80's. My favorite groups were the Psychadelic Furs, Depeche Mode, Jesus Jones and REM. I still continue to listen to all varieties of music, but I guess if you find a type you like you stick with it!
I love having Sirius radio, too. I can listen to just about anything at any time, and I never get bored with my music, if anything, I have a hard time decising which kind to listen to. It is well worth the money for me and there are no commercials, which to me makes regular radio intollerable! Have a great time today!

I must agree with you on REM, I absolutely love them! Saying that however, I think I love so many genres of music it's impossible for me to make a solid decision of what I like most. I have several favourite bands, all of which are from different eras and styles. I do differ though, in the fact that sometimes I'm not in the mood for certain types of music, especially my favourites. I suppose I just get bored of listening to the same music over and over. I quite enjoy listening to the radio, as it makes me realise that there actually IS different types of music out there!
