Do you think President Obama should encourage the country by sounding hopeful or do you think he still needs to impress us about the problems? By doing that is he creating a self proclaiming prophecy? And if that is so wouldn't a more hopeful attitude also be self proclaiming?

It's time someone told the American people the truth about the seriousness of the mess we are in. Lying to the people and letting on like everything is fine will only cause a lot of people serious problems down the road. At least Obama is trying to tell the people the truth about the situation and this bunch of jerks in Washington are trying to make him look bad because of it. Some of these people have been with holding information from the public concerning the state of our economy for a couple of years now. This didn't just start 6 months ago like some would like for us to believe. It has been cooking for a long time but it was covered up. I don't care for Obama but I will give him credit for this one.

PS: If the American People have the truth to work with so they will know what direction they need to pull in they can overcome anything this world can throw at them. We have proven this many times in the past. One huge problem we have right now is the fact the people are not pulling together. The harder things get for the American the closer they come together. That is the way it has always been and that is the way it will be this time. In order to do this they must know the truth about what they are up against and when they do they will do what ever they must to fix the problem. We are not a weak people, we are not children and we do not need to be lied to. This is not doing us a favor in any way.

Hi pat~ At this point I really don't know if it will help
no matter how he tries to sound. His actions will be the only
things that will truly matter and what they do will be the
only things that count! He knew what he was getting into before
he took on the job. Now he has to step up to the plate and
get things done and quicky because this country is in very
serious trouble!

When he returns to talking about how bad things are, Pat, I've noticed it's often in response to people acting as if he forgot to wave his magic wand and fix it all in a heartbeat. We definitely need the positives. He really does need to concentrate on hope in order for people to hang in there with him.
