I have been feeling a little down lately, nothing terrible has happened in life thankfully but my mood put me in a rather pensive state and I have to wonder if my life ended tomorrow have I contributed enough to the world, have I made a difference? Do you think any one person can make a difference? If so how?

I try to view life my way and try to make a difference my own way. there had been a time when I was living a life of a mere vegetable, nothing would inspire me enough to come out of my closet. Then one day I realised, its all about loving myself! I was just not loving myself enough! I started to take care of myself, stated to love my within and without. That started to make a difference, i was motivated to think better and by the time I could realise even I had started to reach out. I think we individuals have tremendous potentiality and can do unbelievable things. Right now, I am doing reasonably well giving my family what they wanted from me forever. That's kinda great to start with! Hugs to you.

I used to neglect myself like anything. I thought it to be a fancy to look after ourselves. But then , one day I realised that we must love ourselves inside out to love others. Take care of yourself Paula.

It all starts with you. It is true that you cannot love another until you care for yourself, that is where it must start and things will fall into place. I forget that too sometimes! Thanks for a great response!

Of course, every person makes a big difference at every action they make. Whether it's good or bad and that is why it's important to try to be good and caring for everything even small. The smallest difference can make a huge difference. Just by giving a smile to your mom in the morning or watering your plants or petting your dog. You've kept them happy and alive another sec. and that's huge.

I have not considered that even my animals depend on me for their lives! I guess we are not aware sometimes of the gap we would leave if we were not here. Thanks for a great response!

I really do think 1 person can make a difference in someones life. Think if someone that you love and even talk to everyday is gone, that leaves a void in that persons life or your life if they are gone. Even when someone is having a bad day, you might not know it and just walking by and smiling at them can make them feel better and more cheerful. Small things do count too. There is a movie, I think it is called Pass It On or something like that about a young boy that started a movement about small things that you can do to make 1 persons life better. A very moving movie. I guess what Im saying is that EVERYONE in the world counts and can make things better even with small things.

Yep I think you are right about the name of the movie. It is a really touching, thoughtful but sad movie.

I think the movie was called Pay it forward or something like that. I might see if I can find it. You are right, a simple smile can make a huge difference some days. Thanks for responding!

I think one person can make a difference. I mean I think we all effect someone else's lives that we don't really realize it and sometimes I think that is the best way. I know I have made a difference in some of my friend's lives and they have made a difference in mine. To often when we feel a little down we don't think we could have made a difference. I am sure you have made a difference in not just one, but many lives.

I know and we would probably be amazed if we knew what a difference our existence makes in other people's lives in ways we often cannot see, Thanks for responding!

I think anyone person can make a difference, just by being you, and by being the kind and loving person that you are. The things you do to make a difference does not have to be noticed by everyone, as long as you know what you have accomplished, and others know as well. People remember who you are, the kind of person you are, and how you relate to and do for others. They know if you are kindhearted and a good person. All you can do is be you, and be true to yourself and others. I hope you feel better soon. If you need someone to chat with send me a message. Take care and God Bless Hugs Mary

Thanks for the response!

You may be surprised someday to find out you really did make a difference in someone's life and didn't even know it. I recently reconnected with a guy I knew 40 years ago in high school. He told me that I had given him a great deal of inspiration and that he still mentions me to this day, even though we haven't seen each other since then. We were always just friends, and I never knew I had influenced his life in any special way, but that's the first thing he told me. So never feel like you aren't making a difference, because you just may be and don't know it.

It depends on your position in life. Most of us have little or no influence on anyone except our families or close friends. However, people like George W Bush has had a great influence on our world, albeit not too good. When I'm having a rough time, I try to focus on some future event I'm looking forward to, this usually works and often changes my focus. Good luck

I am very confused about my life recently, I do not know where I should live and which job I should choose, I want to be a successful person, at least to be a substantial person! Time flies and now I am 25 year old, looking back my road of life and contrast it to my present situation, I am so upset and find nothing difference I have made. Though I am young, life is very difficult and monotonous, I want to change it while it is too difficult, I have no choose but work hard and face all the difficulties, challenges and lonely day by day! Hold on, I still have confidence and objectives, I trust myself

25 is very young and although time does fly you do have a lifetime ahead of you. Read through some of the responses I received. There are a lot of wise words there about making a difference every day even just by smiling at someone and how important your existence is even in ways you might not have been aware of. Take a look; it sure made me feel a whole lot better! Thank you for responding and good luck!

Hi paula! Heads up! One person does and can make a difference. You've probably done more to do so than you realize. A lot of the differences we make,we don't even realize. By touching one person you touch everyone they know thus the ones they know and so on and so forth. One act of kindness can make difference in thousands. And who knows how much you have effected the people around the world just by being on here.I know you've made me smile.Maybe by expressing an opinion or giving support here..you've changed someones life for the better.Knowing you as I have come to..I know your kindness and honesty has made difference more than you know.

Absolutely one person can make a difference. Every day, people who are parents, make a difference in the childrens lives. We teach them right from wrong, good from bad, manners and how to be well rounded people. In some way, we make a difference in their lives. Have you ever comforted a friend in need? If so, you made a difference in their lives at the time and maybe forever. A teacher makes a difference in many peoples lives through teaching them skills to use in the world. If someone finds a job in their learned skills, then that teacher made a difference in their life. Have you ever lent money to a friend who was down and out.? Have you been a friend to someone who really needs you? Then you have made a difference in their lives. It does not take a huge feat that is visible to the world to make a great difference.

Hi Paula! your being down of late is probably due to change in the weather or it is cyclic. I too have often felt so. At one or two points in a year I feel too low and pensive that it lasts almost a couple of weeks sometime. The next point is important. I feel one has to raise above the average and strong enough to accept the reality as it comes by. He/she can surely make a difference and leave behind a name that generation after generation would remember you. I am not, however, pointing at the figures like Gautam Buddha but common man like King Martin Luther Jr. who really left his stamp behind and the efforts he made to give a face lift to the neglected and oppressed one finally got paid and he was not a Christ , nor a prophet Mohamed, but like you and me. Another example is Mahatma Gandhi who preached and proved that non - violence too could be a strong weapon to fight with and he freed the Indians. Now looking back to yours and my life I just feel we too can make a difference, it may not be in the form of the ones talked above but within a small amount for a couple of people or the least one person. I will feel my worth even if I succeed to help out a person take the desired path and acknowledges that somebody did make all the difference in his/her life. Great thought Paula.

Sometimes you on stress, and it might make you feel down. Too much works could cause that too... Sometimes I feel down too, I feel like Life is useless to me and nothing more than eat and sleep and work, That's all I can do. However, if someone that love you and care about you could make the different. Why I said that because he/she could share with you and give you all the trust, that make your day and you won't feel lonely again. Good luck to you.

One person can make a difference. People always think that means changing the world but just being nice to people makes a difference in each of their lives. Think about if you hold a door or say thank you or even smile and that person feels better and then does the same and so on. That really makes a difference in a lot of people's lives.

Of course one single person can make a huge difference if they really really try! I remember a couple of years back in my high school, we had our school motto, but we also had a motto of the year, which was "To be the difference that makes a difference". For example the new president Obama, he's one person but he can make a difference. Infact people make a difference everyday. If you weren't alive, a particular person would never have you as a relative or never talked to you, and that would change life in a way. Everybody always makes a difference. And try to be the person that makes the difference. All the best. Motto: "Be the difference that makes a difference.

of course a single person can make a diffrence. but if we all stand together we can make an even bigger diffrence. There is no point feeling down you are a wonderful person. You probably have contributed a lot to the world but you just don't know how much exactly. Life isn't about if you contributed or not,Its about living it to the fullest.
