What accidents had already happened while you're baby sitting your child?

Last Tuesday night, I was baby sitting my 1 year old son. We were playing basketball, and while I was chasing the ball, he fell down and hit his head on a DVD player (I know it was sooo stupid on my part to play with a baby in an unsafe place). At first, when I was massaging his head, I thought it was just one of the "I-hit-my-head" pains. But when I smelled something, I looked at may hand that was massaging his head and saw blood! That's when I knew he got wounded! I was panicking,, crying and pleading to my husband to bring our son to the nearby hospital. Luckily, I have a sister-in-law who is a nurse, and she taught me what to do, and said if the wound is not deep, we can just cure it at home. Fortunately, the wound is not indeed deep. Now it's already healing.
After that incident, I was really blaming myself for not being in my son's side, knowing that accidents could happen in a second or two. What really made me sad is that, I'm being blamed that same night, I was told that I'm not being a good mother, that I let accidents happen, that I shouldn't rely much on that kind of reasoning. Of course, I came to my defense, because an accident is the least I would want to happen, especially to my own child.

About two months ago we all including my in-laws were sitting in the room n were enjoying tea together suddenly my baby who is just 3 and half years old fell from the bed and he just started screaming. First i thought it is just a small injury and I started massaging his thigh but his screams did not stop. he kept on crying and was not able to keep his foot on the floor and was pointing towards his thigh. we then took him to the nearest x-ray lab and got his x-ray done. The x-ray report indicated that he got his thigh fractured and i was totally shattered.I was scared about what is going to be happened now. we then took him to the orthopaedics he did his job. then we came back home. but i must say that my child has got a lot of courage and patients too. as after coming back to home he did not complain for pain.May God bless him.

Sorry to hear that.
I hope your baby is doing great now.
It's just shattering, especially to us mothers, when something bad happens to our children, that we would wish we are the ones in their situation when they're in so much pain.
Thank you very much for the response, sbhuttan! Kisses to your baby! :-)
