What is the basis of getting the Mylot points?

I am new to this site. I see some points getting accumulated (shown within brackets) after my username. Do I get one point per post? Or is it based on other's rating me +? Do I get more points per new discussion over comment on a discussion? And finally has the point got something to do with my earning or earning potential too?

the number bear your name is the number of post you are doing. that has nothing to do with the earning. earnings depends on how good your post are. you need to atleast tyoe post of four lines or more before it is qualified as an earning. some members has 500= post but has not yet reach the payouts.... why? because you need to post four lines or more. the discussion you started will not gain any earnings for you post a shirt one. just remember post as many as you can in a day but post longer ones. goodluck and welcome to the wonderful world of mylot

some members say that you can earn when you are picked as the best response and some say you dont earn anything, in my opinion i dont earn either even a member picked me as the best response. the cahnce is to thin for you to get a best response. so even there is earning to that you can not still be assured that your response will be picked. ratings has nothing to do with earnings it is only for the stars. as you see near my user name there is a star the highest is ten. you rate the members response... positive rates makes the star up and negative makes the star low.

This is a very friendly forum and you are sure to have a nice time here.
I think the number of points corresponds with the number of responses and the discussion topics you post.When others rate you negative, your star changes color and the number inside the star would also go down.These points give you some other facilities like copy pasting, if need be;[you need to get 500 for this ] . There was another discussion that had clearly categorised this.If I locate it once again , I shall send you the link.
The earnings may be relatively slow , but the forum is a lot of fun and sharing of thoughts.
