I spent more than an hour last night just playing with my cat! She was just so engaged with the string on my sweatshirt that I could not dissappoint her and put the shirt away. I often will play with her for a long time every few days because I think it is good exercise for her and I want to play with my pet! Do you still play with your cat, or now that she/he isn't a kitten anymore have you lost interest? What does your cat like to play with? Store bought toys or things around the house? Please share your fun adventures with your cat here!

One of my cats is too fat to play, her sister only wants to look for food and is often not satisfied with what she gets, the third one likes to play with the netted bag that oranges come in, and our only male likes to go outside and be chased by me.

I try to get her to go outside, but our neighbor has a dog she's afraid of. I've tried to get her interested in playing but she doesn't seem to want to or maybe she's too fat to play. I'll keep trying.

Hah! It's usually the cat who loses interest.
Yep! I still play with my kitty, who is now a cat, he has a lot of toys, but he changes it up, sometimes he'll fling his toys and catch them on my bed, where I may be reading, or play with a crumpled up piece of paper, my hair, my pants, or just sit there and watch a movie with me (he LOVES superman returns, he stopped cleaning himself just so he could give it his full attention), OR just fall asleep looking at each other, that is, the BOTH of us will do that.
yeeeeeeep, I am the crazy cat lady.

My cat bugs the heck out of me when I'm doing laundry! She goes after the clothes as I'm folding them, which was how last nights playtime began in the first place. I don't usually let her in because I get nothing done, but thanks for the story! They are so fun to watch!

I love my cats dearly. They are like part of the family. They were not more fun when they were kittens. They have always been fun.
Lets see....
- today, my avatar, George, was juggling a piece of corn from the stove;
- the brothers had a wrestle;
- George snarled at my husband because he tried to move him from in front of the stove;
- George talked my ear off, again *sigh*;
- Bear came and sat on my lap and asked to be petted and cuddled;
That's just in the last couple of hours.
My cats are a constant source of companionship, amusement and annoyance. Just like family.

My one cat is defineatly part of our small little family, but it sounds like you have a big one! I really want to add to our family with another cat, but I think my Hubby is happy with the staus quo, and our cat Kiki is already a bit of a skitz, so she may vanish if we got another cat! I do wish I had another lap cat though. My late cat Sushi was such a lover! Thanks for the response!

I have 2 cats. They are so entertaining!! the older one has a fear of plastic bags and an "addiction" to hair elastics. He will dig in my purse or anyone elses' purse to find one. He can entertain himself with it for so long. he will even bring it to us and have us "shoot" it (like a rubber band) and he will find it and bring it back. it is so funny!! the little one will chase his tail and his shadow. the little one also loves to play in empty boxes. he is like a kids, he cares more about the box than the toy that was in it!

Hey Nutty Momma! I see you've been having some fun here on MyLot and thanks for the response! It sounds like you have two spunky cats, and now that you mention it, myne has a thing about boxes, too! I think I need to get another cat to keep Kiki company, she may want someone to keep her young... I had not though of shooting rubber bands, what a good idea!

My cat will be 15 yrs old in June and she still takes spells of wanting to play. She likes balls or even paper rolled up to bat around on the floor to chase and to throw up in the air. I also have a bought toy that she likes at times, it is a stick type thing with a long string of feathers and a bell that I can dangle in front of her or do across the floor. Then I also have a dog who she loves to chase at times.

Ww! 15 years old and still playing and chasing the dog?? I think that's pretty good! My first cat years ago (Misha) was really spunky too until she was about 18 years old. I think it was because she was an outdoor cat for many yearsm though until we had to start keeping her inside. I like the feather idea, too. Good one. My cat has a few store bought toys, but we acctually throw straws at her and she chases them and chews on them for entertainment. We find them everywhere. They are super cheap at Walmart, too! Thanks for taking the time to respond!

yes i'm always fascinated by my cats. the girl in my avatar has been with me for almost ten years now. still she never fails to amaze me with her antics. take for example a game we played a while back. it's just a simple piece of ribbon but she goes at it like it's her mortal enemy. she can play till she pants really hard but still stare at the ribbon.
another thing that amuses me is how she'd meow to be let out. once i decided to put her in a harness and bring her downstairs. once she was downstairs, she cowered and refused to move because of some crows around. aren't cats supposed to catch birds? it seems my girl is more afraid than anything else.

my cat is 9, and he is still playful. he likes his scratch board and scratch post. he likes his cat tree and mostly sleeps in it. i usually tease him and start with him, and make him mad. and i am busy, he comes and jumps at me to start something with me and tease me. so, he does it back to me, as if telling me 2 can play ur game.

Both my husband and I play with our 4 year old cat frequently. Our previous cat was still playful at age 16. I agree that playtime is necessary to keep indoor cats fit.

Our cats are old so they don't play much. But i was fascinated with a cat show i saw on TV a couple of week ago. They had an obstacle course for cats . I was surprised that you could get a cat to do that more then one or two times, I would think the cats would get bored.

oh yea! my son has a toy that you wind up and it flips and flips. aparently the cat likes it. i bought my blackie a cat nip toy rat that he plays with and slaps at. i think my kitties favorite toy to play with is a little plastic army man that my son has. he will slap it all over the house and slide across the kitchen floor to play with it.

I am facinated with all cats, they are so fun to watch. I don't have a cat right now, but I do wish I had one. I once had a cat that when they ate food they would growl and it would sound like they where saying yum yum yum yum. I always meant to get that on video tape but never did. He was such a cute cat.

I guess you could say I live my life for my cats, we have 30 of them and it's a lot of work keeping them all happy! Like tonight, after I fed them all plus the 6 outdoor strays, I cooked some turkey meat and gave them all a little treat, then they all had a little catnip, we played for a while and then they all went to sleep, stoned and with full bellies! It's so cute watching them get ready to sleep, they will sleep with certain other cats, like Mouse will only sleep with Sara and Scuff nose will only sleep with Boo and Whitey in a big padded box, and Mary and Shelly will only sleep alone and if another cat gets in THEIR boxes, they fight till the other cat leaves! Little Bit is a loner and hates other cats near her so she'll sleep up on the window ledge and Onex will jump from box to box till he finds someone who'll let him sleep with them. Mallory, Grayman, Black and Scooter all sleep together and so on and so on and so on........

Sadly we don't have a cat any longer, but we used to have a Manz cat - that is a cat with no tail. He was a real character and had an addiction to chicken. His addiction was so bad, that I knew him to jump from the ground and steal it off my fork when I was eating it. He would also growl like a dog if you went too near when he was eating his meal. Perhaps he thought he was a god! . Derek

I do play with my cat some. She has some store bought toys that she tends to ignore for the most part, but sometimes I can get her interested and she will play for awhile. I get amused at her because she has figured out how to open the cabinet door in the bathroom and then she crawls in there and sleeps. It usually takes her several tries to get it accomplished. She is at the point that she likes to spend more time outside than inside. But when she decides she is ready to come inside she scratches on the window to let me know she is there. She doesn't like to be picked up, but sometimes will crawl up on my lap and sit there for awhile. She's nice to have around though.

yes! i loved my cats more than i loved my dogs, i love puppies but when they grow up, i lose interest. but with cats, i love kittens more than cats but still i love cats, i always get my cat to sleep on my lap, i like stroking their soft fur, i also like it when they push themselves on our legs, it seems so sweet but that's just how cats are hehe,
