Hi again savypat, This is the poem I was telling you about, I was reminded of it when you spoke of looking in the mirror each morning. Blessings.
The Man in The Glass
When you get what you want in your struggles for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you're a straight-shooting chum
And call you a wonderful guy.
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he's with you clear to the end
And you've passed your most dangerous test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

This is something I've been working on. It seems to get harder as I get deeper into financial problems. Even though the bills have nothing real to do with my self-image, finding it hard to make ends meet makes me feel like a real failure, especially since I work so hard and spend next-to-nothing. I actually talk to the mirror sometimes to work on it, and sometimes I even succeed. That just has to work more often.

You're such a good person. I'm glad you're my friend. Your advice reminds me to do things I know help. No matter how hard things get (too sick to go to work today), this, too, will pass.

I know you are going through hard times, and you are always in my prayers. Just keep talking to yourself. I did find that by turning my problems over to God and living like I already had everything I needed things have gotten better. Each time I get worried I just say, God I know you are taking care of this and go on. At least that way I don't waste energy in worry. That energy is then used to just get on with life. I remind my self to just live in the now. Right now, this instant, I need nothing. That's how dogs live and look how happy they are.
