i have a desktop and i thought about getting rid of it because i got a new one but i think that i am going to keep it just incase and i was just wondering how i get wireless internet on it, i know i heard something about a wireless card but can i do that with my computer being that it was made in the 90s? i also want cable or dsl internet and i was just wondering if i was able to get that too, and if its hard to do and expensive? i would like to take this time to thank everyone for taking the time out of your day to come by and read and review my discussion and hopefully answering, and trying to help me, and i hope that you all have a great day and night tonight, thanks again for taking the time to stop by.

With older computers, I'm not that sure how you would install a wireless LAN card on it. You'd have to check your motherboard and see if it has a slot that would accommodate the wireless LAN card.
Cable internet or DSL shouldn't be too hard to get. You just have to subscribe to a certain provider and then they'll fix you up with modem and the connection. Once you have a connection, it would be advisable to get a router to connect your computers together and to the internet.

What I suggest is getting cable internet on your main computer and then buying a router which will cost you about 40$. Then just hook up the router and bam you've got all the wireless internet you want.

I totally agree with you. But I still think that wired networks are still better for desktops since you're not going to move the desktop around that much anyway
