My first baby began having rice and milk mixed together when he was four months old. but advice has changed since then. My second baby began at 6 months old. Giving a baby solid food before 6 months is not too be advised. Milk should be the baby's diet from birth to 6 months, either from his or her mother or formula for babies.

Doctor's advice can differ widely depending on their outlook. I guess you would have to consider the source and what your instincts tell you. In the case of when your child is ready to eat, I think a mother's instincts will usually provide a good guide. That is, when reading opinions of credible doctors, keep your child in mind.

Actually, my son was about one month old. My mother used to say, "feed that boy" he's hungry. I started putting about a teaspoon of cereal into his bottle, and it really satified him. I did not wait for the doctor to tell me. I did wait until I was told to incorporate fruits and veggies into his diet, but a little cereal didn't harm him at all. He actually, slept most nights, because his little tummy was full.

Hi there. after 5 kids.
I've came to the conculation that most MEN Dr's are full of sh--.
what do they know about babys, as far as feeding them. have they ever had one.my my daughter-n-law and I butted heads when her first child was born.
you couldn't tell her any thing.
the doc said no food until the baby was one year old.
poor little thing. after three children she learnd.
when a baby reaches a certain age. they start acting like there just not getting
enough food.I bought a little chopper. and put green beans, or peas,or greens.
turn them in to purie. then added some mash potatas.that way the baby became
enterduced to the familys food young.not spices. a little salt, a little butter thats it.as far as cereal.when my baby was three months, they were on cereal in there bottle. by the time they were 6 months old the were eating from the table.
with the mixtur I would make up. I never did like jared baby food. there's no telling how long that scum has been in them jars.and have you ever tryed to eat that crap.my children all grew up healthy.so my addvice to you is.
use your (mothers instinks)your baby will let you know.good luck

With my son we started him on cereal at 3 months, and he did very well with it. With my daughter she was on cereal at 2 weeks because of acid reflux, gastritis and her stomach wasn't fully developed so it helped her to a point with the excessive puking.

with my first kid, i started giving her cereals when she reach 6months coz its the advice of her pedia. i must admit that all her advices were faithfully followed. maybe thats the feeling of a first time mom. with my 2nd kid, i was more confident of myself so i gave her cereals at around 4-5months old.

I don't think it is good for babies to be fed cereals in their bottles because it would make them difficult to swallow. Anyway, if you wish to give your baby cereals, let him/her sit down and feed her using a spoon. In that way, the baby will enjoy eating the food.

Actually they don't recommend to put the cereal into the bottle. I don't see how a doctor would actually tell you to do that, because all I've heard since my oldest was a baby is that putting the cereal into the bottle is a choking hazard! I never did it with any of my kids. Instead I fed them cereal from a spoon, and normally I started that between 3 and 4 months.
