Split ends are also caused by heat and other chemical treatment done to your hair. I remember I had my hair rebonded before and after awhile split ends just seem to be there. Seeing that, I knew I need a haircut. For me, it's better to have a healthy hair whatever its length might be than a long one with really weird hair branches. ^^

I know it takes forever to do, but you can just take a pair of scissors and chop off just nothing but the split ends. It will take quite a long time to do that, but it is possible to do. After you get rid of the split ends, you can deep condition your hair and then be careful to treat it nice. Sleep on a soft pillow case, don't brush your hair when wet and try to treat it gently. There isn't really a way to prevent split ends, the only thing you can do to keep rid of them is to cut your hair regularly.

I had the same problem just like you...I get this split ends because of ironing my hair with the use of hair iron when I go somewhere else. Thats why it end up with split ends. Hopefully if I have money I'm going to hair salon to have a hair spa...I have a long hair also and you're right its really hard to take care and achieve the longer hair.

To get rid of your split ends, brush your hair before taking a shower to reduce tangles and always use a conditioner. Don't use brush when your hair is still wet, use combs with large teeth. ^_^
