Hand foot mouth disease

Ok.... so it seems my son has hand foot mouth disease, or what my dr. thinks it is. He needs to get the culture back, anyway, has anyone's children ever had this and how did you try to keep them comfortable? My son has blister stuff all over the inside of his mouth and on his chin. It makes me sad when he cries because it hurts to eat, I even had to put him on pureed foods again. He doesn't drink much but I'm glad he will drink. it seems it can only be "ridden out" he's already on amoxacillin for an ear infection, so it's crazy, my poor baby, I really can't wait till all of this is over. Has anyone had to deal with this? what did you do?
