Skipping Dinner: Do you do it? Often?

Sometimes when I think I have gained a few pounds, I would skip a few dinners just to shred that extra pound off to make me feel lighter! It works effectively for me and I am lucky that my mom wants to be on diet and she would be happy not having to cook dinner for me. What about you? Do you skip dinner from time to time? If so, why? Do you still cook for your family?

hi wondericequeen! i think someone misunderstood your meaning. he/she thought that after you have gained a few "british" pounds, you would skip a few dinners! i never thought that your case could be related to earning on the net! LOL!
back to your discussion. i think that skipping dinner is an unhealthy practice. you might ended up eating lots more than usual. but since you are so happy with everything works effective for you, meaning that you know how to control yourself well.
but still i think that maybe you should eat a little for each meal to be more healthy. LOL! :)

hello wondericequeen
i skipped cooking dinner tonight for myself and my family due to the fact that i forgot to sit out anything frozen this morning to cook tonight. lol i had went out and done some shopping this morning and when i got back home, i didn't think anything about putting out any frozen meat for dinner tonight. one of my son's tonight had macaroni and cheese for his dinner, the other son had a frozen chicken pattie which he microwaved and heated it up like that and made him a sandwich out of it, and my hubby ate a sandwich of lunchmeat and i fixed myself some instant noodles. so that is what that we all had around here at my house tonight for dinner. lol we all four had something different to eat tonight.
take care and have a beautiful evening.

LOL Funny you should ask. I almost went out and got a burger. My husband cooks, and he's dang good at it. For whatever reason though, he just didn't feel like moving tonight (we all have those nights). When I mentioned that I was about to go get a burger, he got up. LOL funny funny guy. He's in the kitchen right now making an Asian curry dish that smells absolutely delicious. Now I won't have to go get a burger, and the house smells wonderful! ;-)

Skipping meals actually does not really help you lose weight, especially skipping only a meal or two. Your body will actually find it hard to function and has some food reserves stored up so you will not starve. If you starved constantly, then you would lose weight, but skipping a few meals? Won't do a thing.

I may skip breakfast, but I never skip dinner, not even once in awhile. There are times when I just want a tomato salad and a sandwich or popcorn and a piece of cheese for dinner. Those are pretty light dinners for me.

Yes there are times that I skip dinner but this has nothing to do with the hope of shredding an extra pound or two! You are right about being lucky to have a mum to cook you dinner, however if I lived someone who cooked me dinner then I would always be keen to eat :)
The main reason for me not having dinner is because I can't be bothered. Sometimes dinner is my least favourite chore. But alas a mother must always cook dinner! (at least for the kiddies anyway!)

Actually, I occasionally try not to skip dinner for the opposite reason -- as a writer and something of a workaholic, I often forget to eat! So I try to remember to eat dinners since they hold the most fuel for my body.
The meals I skip the most, in fact, are breakfast and lunch. xD

No, it's not possible that I will skip the dinner. Perhaps I can delay it because of busy work or schedule. I don't like the hungry feeling as I will have no mood and I will also feel tired and exhausted. I have seen your photos and you are in the good shape. I don't think you need to be on diet. Just stay healthy and you look very nice:)

Hello wondericequeen,
Oh, it is very rare for me to skip dinner! I have to cook for dinner as everyone will be at home at this time. And, it is the only time I can have my meal together with my husband and kid. I won't usually skip my dinner but I will prepare a lighter meal for dinner once a while and make sure that we have ours at 8 pm everyday.

Sometimes, I used to skip dinner especially if I'm not in the mood to eat or I'm not feeling well.. I don't skip dinner just because of loosing weight since I'm already thin or slim to lose weight and its so easy for me to lose weight if I like too but its so hard to gain extra weight.. I'm having problem of gaining weight than losing a weight.. I used to eat so many foods but still I'm not gaining any weight, I already take vitamins still no improvement..

I usually skip breakfast, because I am a night owl and sleep late. But, that is not good.
The skipping meals will work for you when you are young, but as you get older, it doesn't work as easy anymore. It is better just to eat your 3 meals a day, and just cut back on what you eat.
As the more you diet, the more you will gain wait over the years. My Mom always said that she always gained more then she lost.
I do still cook for my husband.

I never ever skip having dinner, or any meal of the day as they are all very important and keep you at a right weight and health. I may have skipped dinner a few times in the past when i haven't gotten up utill dinnertime and if i didn't fancy anything, or if i weren't well, but that was ages ago now. Nowadays, I always have every meal of the day :)

No i don't.. i think it's a bad way to lose weight because you might lose a lot of nutrients that you need in order for your body to function well.. i suggest that you go to a healthier way of dieting like not eating rice, go high fiber(eat lots of oatmeal, wheat bread), instead of munching on red meat, eat lots of fish and veggies..

I used to, but I never skip dinner any more. I am diabetic and I can't. Besides, my husband comes home starving everyday, so I would still have to cook whether I liked it or not. Now, sometimes I don't cook - but he will bring something home. We don't skip dinner.

Hi-
I try not to skip meals. Ive gained some weight over the last 2yrs annd Ive been trying to shed the weight lately. The thing is the healthy amount of meals you should have in a day is 5-6 mini meals. Though I dont always follow this, I try to spread out my meals but still get a nice amount w/out feeling like I'm starving myself.
