Pets behaving badly

This morning I heard a lady on the radio complaining about her two dogs' behaviour.
She said that they are usually very naughty and gave an example:
One day she was outside watering her plants and she heard her dogs growling softly. She ran around the front of the house where the dogs were and discovered her two little "angels" (I didn't catch the breed) playing tug of war with the neighbour's freshly delivered newspaper and as she glanced a little further she noticed there was shredded newspaper everywhere; the dogs apparently had ripped into all the rolled up newspapers they could find along the street.
Needless to say this hapless woman had to get a basket, go to her local news stand and fill the basket with newspapers for all the houses in her street. This was after she spent ages cleaning up the mess!
Do you or someone you know have a naughty pet? Please share your pets behaving badly stories.

We have outside cats, that can get into mischief. They love to get in my flower beds, and dig around, or lay on the plants. If the plants are to young, they don't make it, but if they are bigger I end up with bent plants. LOL. When they are hungry and we come outside they are around our feet almost tripping us. As we are getting older we are not as limber as we use to be. I guess it is not that mischievous, but it can be a problem.

My cats are strictly indoor cats and believe me they get up to plenty of mischief as well! Thanks for responding MaryLynn!

You are very welcome Paula, I thought it was a great topic. I don't think I could handle cats in the house, as sometimes when I am at my best friends, and if the cat is around a lot, I have problems. So don't know if I am allergic or not, but I sure make sure I was my hands after petting the cats, so I don't rub my eys.
Hugs MaryLynn

Lightening is a very naughty kitty. She chews wires, eats plants, and recently I caught her eating my Valentine's day roses! Yet, she just has to give me that sweet little look and I melt. I'm such a sucker. I know that she's just planning her next naughty adventure. Oh, and she's sneeky about it. She'll pretend to be going to do something else while at the same time getting what she wants to get.

Had a beautiful Dalmatien/Great Dane cross some years about while I was living in a small Thai village. One morning I noticed all the disposable nappies spread throughout the small streets. The rubbish bins were all knocked over. My dog was innocently sitting in front of our house wagging his tail. Next week, I got up earlier only to find my dog attacking the bins systematically and fossicing out the 'Pampas'. Red faced I got him home and cleaned up his mess. I later apologised to all concerned.

I don't have a naughty pet. The worst thing my dog does is sit on our feet. And with it being so cold out, that doesn't feel bad. We do have a naughty neighbor who feeds our dog. That is as bad as it gets here. I feel for the lady. But she did the right thing.

My youngest chihuahua Eva is very naughty. She is the smallest but think she runs the show. She "bulldogs"her way around and is very aggressive towards the bigger dogs. I have been working with her on this but she is a witch sometimes. She's tiny but has the heart of a lion when it comes to something she wants. Attention, food, etc.

I've heard that about chihuahuas they are quite powerful for little tiny dogs. Training is difficult and consistency is the key. Good luck with her and thanks for responding.

I have a Yorkie named Killah and talk about mischievious! He takes my lingere and socks as soon as I change my clothing. He will lurk around at night, pulling the clothes out of the hamper and all he gets are my panties, bras, and socks. So I have to search under beds, behind furniture and in every corner of my house before doing laundry . . . has proven to be VERY EMBARRASSING when company comes!

paula27661,
I am an accidental owner of a pekingese puppy. Very playful and could be willfully stubborn at times. I believe as you had mentioned here consistency is the best policy and order for him.
He is well trained but yet at times he will just come right up to me and pee in my full view or he will be conducting a night raid on all the family's clothings. Could be quite annoying at the first instance, but when he looks at you with that sorry expression - I just cannot help but to spare him a session with the rolled up newspaper. Then, he will be back to his goody self.
It is just a mixed joy watching him through theses Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde sessions.

paula27661,
Ha! Ha! You are spot on here. Like you, I just do not have the heart when he would snug up stealthily as I roll that newspaper.
No choice. Just make my day.

He sounds gorgeous! I remember my dog when she was a puppy. She would make me so mad and just like you, one look from her and I would be weaken! They are fun to watch as puppies, they do calm down as they grow although mine is eleven and at times she is still very much a puppy! Thanks for responding!

Hi Paula, I have had animals all my life including dogs but the collie I have now Ziggy is the naughtiest I have ever come across, even with training sessions etc. although he knows what is right and wrong he choses to misbehave LOL. Only yesterday we all went to a local park where dogs must be kept on a lead and he saw the lake and jumped straight in almost taking me with him holding onto the lead and trying to pull him back with all my might. I forgot to bolt the back door a few weeks ago when I went up to bed and he sleeps in the kitchen, not that night, he let himself out and played all night long bringing in plastic garden chairs, flowerpots, sticks and lots of mud and generally had a field day. Last week my son went to school with bread and butter in his packed lunch as he jumped up and stole the whole packet of ham off of the side in the kitchen before I had chance to make the sandwiches. Although he is so naughty I can't helop but love him and as I am typing this butter wouldn't melt as he laying calmy at my feet (a very rare occurence) LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

I think the fact that her dogs did that was her fault not the dogs. She should not have allowed her dogs to be running all over the neighborhood doing as the pleased they should have been behind a fence in her own back yard, tied up, or in the house. But I do know people who have had dogs that have chewed on everything in thier house, I don't know how they deal with that. My dog chewed some things as a puppy including the corner of a wall and our kitchen blinds, but thank goodness she out grew that.

My dog has grown out of that too thankfully. You are right dogs should be confined to the backyard. Thanks for the response!

most of my dogs before were as naughty as that. trying ripoff every piece of cloth they could get. so i usually try to put away any thing or object that i need to protect or value. that is why i don't care for dogs now. i don't know how to teach or train dogs to behave.

Training a dog takes a lot of time and patience as I have learned! It's not for everyone. Thanks for responding!

I can not say that I have known anyone with a naughty pet. Most of the people I know that own dogs, are smart enough to make certain that their pets are on a leash at all times so that things like this don't happen. I feel very bad for the women but at the same time she really had no one to blame but herself. You shouldn't have a pet off leash, even if they are in your yard, she is lucky that her dogs were just chewing on newspapers and not some poor mail man's leg,LOL. I am very glad that my pets are all indoor animals and when I let them out I always make sure that they are on a leash. I guess she will have learned her lesson now though.

I agree with you, my 2 cats live indoors only and my dog never ever leaves the backyard as our gates are always closed. Not only I don't think it would be fair that my neighbours should put up with my pets but I fear for the animals' safety too if they get out. Thanks for responding!
