Hello everyone,
As I've noticed for not only my last couple of months but years and years, most of the people I've seen no matter where, say "uhmmm" or "ermmm" while pausing to think. Actually, this habit is all over the world. Well, at least 80% of the world, if not more, say it. That's quite a lot of people. Some people don't really pay much attention to it but sometimes they use it almost every time they pause to think which ruins their way of talking especially if it was on a television show or anything serious. As an example : I've seen a certain T.V show where a person said it after every sentence he said. I think it is embarrassing also especially if you're delivering a speech in front of many people. It's not like I don't say it though. I do say it sometimes but not all the time as I am cautious of it in these days.
So everyone, what do you think of this? Do you sometimes say it as well? No?
Please discuss. I am willing to read all of your replies!
Thank you :)

The worst experince of this was "you know". I was in Ireland and there was a lady on the tv talking against the expansion of one of the airports. She used "you know" or "like" to replace every piece of normal voice punctuation. It's not the same as ummm... but it hasd the same effect of making them look less intelligent, which when talking about a serious issue is realy not something you want to be doing.
