Cakes with stuff on top of the frosting are the trend here right now.

My brother's girlfriend made his a cake and it had sprinkles and pecans plus chocolate and peanut butter chips on tops. I've seen ones with the candy hearts on top of the cake, too. I've also seen shaved chocolate on top of cakes. What kind of food stuff do you like on top of your frosting or do you just like frosting? I like ONE of the things mentioned at a time. When she made frosting wtih just nuts on top, that was good enough for me. With too many, it was overpowering. Some people like all different tastes with each bite and some think less is more. What do you like?

I am really not much into cakes but there are times I like to eat those with sweet frostings and anything sweet on top..either sprinkles or chocolates will do..Just anything sweet. Once I tasted with m&ms like candies on top and that was real good. Sometimes fruits on top are good too like cherry and strawberries.

I love a marble cake with white icing. I'd prefer to have the icing plain but will once in awhile add sprinkles. Think it makes the cake a bit more appealing and adds a bit of color also. I had to quit making cakes because I'd eat the whole thing thinking I needed to hurry before the cake was stale. I love sweets so am better off not to have them in the house.

I've tried to cut down to just when people are having birthdays or buying a single piece at our nearby store. Thanks and take care.

Well, I might as well "out" myself! I do have a sweet tooth, and I am dangerous around sweets, but must admit, I truly do not like icing...or fussiness on my cakes, cupcakes, etc! And if I do have a choice it is either; whipped coconut cream (the tinned coconut cream whipped like whipping cream) or Cream Cheese frosting...or a baked topping like brown sugar, coconut, walnuts and butter mixed, put on top and then jjust lightly baked! Yummy! My biggest weakness is Baklava, just watch it disappear when I am around! Cheers!

Yes, my friend, baklava is my "crawl over broken glass weakness" and all that honey is not nearly as bad for me as processed, bleached white sugar! There is absolute minimal flour in phyllo pastry...and the one seed that I can eat with diverticulitis is "poppy seed" and I have tons of them! So, first thing Saturday morning, when my son comes home (after I finish work) is we make poppy seed Baklava and he takes his share home to the city!
Sorry, dear, when I said tinned whipped cream...I did NOT mean the nitrogen/florocarbon propelled stuff (gross) in a spray can! For cooking, I buy canned coconut milk.....and canned coconut cream! The cream is just a thick coconut milk (like normal whipping cream) and you whip it like normal whipping cream....and it's just like normal whipping cream, but you do no need to add sugar!
Living on this Island, with only 2 stores (small) often, on occasions, or during the summer (when tourists teem) they will run out of dairy, etc! I learned many years ago, from an old Martha Stewart magazine about canned coconut cream, and whipping it! For my situation, it is perfect, cause you can always have a can in the cupboard....it's yummy...and bails you out for when unexpected guests arrive!
Guess I am just not fond of the taste of the sweetness of icing! But as you said before "different strokes for different folks." Thank Goodness!

well actually i like toppings. as long as it is good or tastes good. anyways, i don't like to eat too much sweet any more thought cause i am trying to be health conscious but health concerns aside i will say i would like to eat as much as i can or as much toppings as i can. and i would of course like to see it beautiful presented or prepared. cause the looks or teh preparation makes the food more attractive and delectable.

Thanks, so you like all kinds of stuff on top of yours. But now you're health conscious, so less of it now. Well the walnuts and pecans, nuts are healthy. One person above likes oranges on top, that's healthy. So I guess it all depends on people's tastes and what they want to do. Thanks and take care

I don't particularly like frosting, it is so heavy, having it once in a while is good but not always, I like it on my cup cakes though, taste not as dry.

I usually make my own frosting and put it on sparingly. If I use frosting at all. I have used pie filling on top of cakes before and that is really different. I wonder why the muffins are so dry? Are they left a little long in the oven or to cool off? Thanks and take care

I prefer the whipped cream type frostins, and I love nuts on them more than anything else, I guess. I do not like overly sweet things. I am picturing a yellow cake with white frosting and crushed walnuts right now.

Some cakes are moist enough for eating plain. Rich and creamy sounds good, thank you very much and take care.

I like the german chocolate cake because the frosting has pecans and coconut in it....it's so good...otherwise I am happy with just frosting....however my little granddaughter is really into decorating....so most of the time ours has something special on the top...like for a holiday.

I like frosting on cake. But I do not like when they put a overwelming amount or put alot of food coloring and just use that for frosting. I like chocolate frosting. And I like hot fudge frosting. And I also like cream cheese and buttercream frosting to.

All sounds terrific to me! Thank you very much for responding. May you have many frosted cakes without lots of food coloring. I had a cake for my Wedding Shower, years ago, everyone's tongue, lips, and some faces were blue, red or purple, so much coloring and it wasn't necessary. Thanks and take care
