I went to Kenya in the past and didn't require a visa at that time but when I was stopping off there on the way home from the Seychelles I noticed that a visa for Kenya was US$50 per person then. So if I was you I would check entry requirements. It is a malaria area and so I advise taking a sleeping net, strong mosquito repellent and possibly anti malaria pills. I would suggest you wear a money belt and take US dollars as some of your currency, one dollar notes make superb tips. I found some excellent souvenirs in the market place in Nairobi. I liked Fort Jesus in Mombasa. I went on a five day safari to the Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru. Times change and places get more expensive so I would take more money nowadays. My flight plus beach accommodation cost UK £500 and then I took a train to Nairobi where I got the safari for US$150. Eating out was economical and transport was cheap. Have an excellent trip.

Thank you, we have booked for a three night safari in tsavo national park, and then 11 nights in a beach hotel nr mobassa. Our deal is all inclusive - Flights accom - food. So it was just the things about what to take, A few people have told me to take US dollars. A few people have also said to take pens & Pencils to give to the local schools. And old cloths to trade with the beach boys? Cant wait to go - have spent most of the week looking at pictures and you tube videos of the parks and resort. Only 341 more days to go lol

In your three days you are likely to see loads of animals and have such a relaxing time on the coast for eleven days. I stayed at Tiwi Beach, south of Mombasa and it had security guards at each end of it. I noticed the local people when I went to Diani Beach the beach further south and there were beach boys trying to sell souvenirs. I think it is a great idea to take note pads and pens. You will like the friendly local people.
