How do you feel about tax dollars being put aside for gambling purposes?

As far as I am aware, the lottery and other various gambling games run in the United States are funded from tax dollars. How do you feel about this? I recently turned 18 and after finding this out, I feel kind of ripped off. I don't really gamble all that frequently, but the idea of tax money being taken and used for such a silly reason seems ridiculous. Especially right now in these hard times.
