I'm curious as to what you've heard about vista that is not very good. I've been running vista ultimate 64 and xp64 for about 2 years now, and vista has way less problems than xp does especially in the 64 bit area. Games run much faster on Vista, especially the newer games that utilize DirectX10. Video plays faster, especially x264 and .mkv (HD) movies/videos. Vista64 can also allocate up to 8 gigs of ram. I seldom use XP anymore since newer games don't run as fast as on vista, nor do they look as nice without directx10.
I understand that people were having a few problems when vista was first released, but isn't that the norm of new OS's? When XP was first released there were problems galore, even after the first SP came out. So they released SP2, and finally SP3. Vista had a few bugs at first, after SP1 came out for vista, all those bugs have been resolved. If you think Windows 7 is gonna be perfect, I'm sure you'll be in for a disapointment when it gets released. At least untill the first Service Pack is released, about 6-12 after the release of windows7.
