This would appear in the Philippine Daily Inquirer dated February 24,2009:
MANILA, Philippines—A single bettor from Luzon on Sunday night won the top prize of P249 million in the 6/49 SuperLotto draw, the biggest ever jackpot in the history of the country's online lottery game, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office said.
Boyyy a 245M or an equivalent of $1 Billion plus in a single lottery draw won by a single person! Unbelievable, that was my first reaction when I read the paper. The question that struck me, would there be some sort of fraud or internal arrangement going on in this case with the authorities? What do you think ?
So what do you do if you won such a big amount?

I thought you were one of those who won the jackpot! Ha!ha!ha! Well the fraud is not far to happen especially with the fact that the names and identity are not really revealed. But I hope no such fraud really happened! Well I do not really gamble in lotto so there is no possibility for me to win. But suppose I bet and I won then I would perhaps set up a good business where I could employ the poor so they will get sure means of livelihood. So it is not only me who get benefited but many people as well.

How lucky that person is. I only hope he/she does not end up in mental hospital.

There were two people from Luzon who won. And they shared 348M+ winnings.
If I won that much money, or even a quarter of it, I'll definitely share my winnings with my brothers and sisters and my in-laws. I'll buy houses, cars and put up a school that will cater to indigent students. It's going to be free education to anyone who want to avail it.

I remember that news report. That guy was very lucky. Im aware that fixing the winners could be a possibility but I like to think that that isnt so. It gives all of us the hope that maybe we could be that lucky one someday. If I did win that kind of amount. Id do what I always dreamed of doing. Take 5-10years of my life and just travel all around the world. I do dream that I will be able to visit all of the countries there is in the world. I would stay there for about 2-3 months, just learning about the place, the culture, the people, and just trying to really experience the world. When I have done that, Ill go home, invest some of the cash in the places all around the world that I think could be well worth investing on, then Ill live the life of luxury at home. Build my Mom's dreamhouse, my Dad's farm/small farm empire, and my humble abode in a place that's not commercialized, also have a place to stay in the city just in case I need to stay here for some transaction of some sort. Then I will settle somewhere.
Of course, Ill try to stretch my winnings as far as it could go, and investing a part of it can give me profits for future use.

Hi, friend.
I believe you were already corrected by another mylotter regarding the actual number of winners and the jackpot prize, along with the conversion of this into dollars; so I wouldn't repeat them anymore.
Anyway, I have to say that I don't bet regularly. In fact, I missed the last 3 draws including the draw last Sunday for the 6/49 Superlotto game; simply because I lack the funds to place my bet.
But if given the chance to win even just a portion of it; say 50 million pesos, I do have several plans lined up for it already. Foremost, my spouse and I would settle all our outstanding monetary obligations with several individuals, credit card companies, pawnshops, and other loan agencies. This would total to approximately 135 thousand pesos, more or less. Next in line would be the segregation of about 5 million pesos for our only child's future education. She's turning 4 this year and she's about to start schooling. This amount includes her daily transportation fares and allowances for meals, aside from the tuition fees and miscellaneous expenses, until she graduates.
Then, my husband and I are going to allot about 3 million for the purchase of a parcel of land together with the expenses for building our own house. We will also give 2 million each to my parents and my parents-in-law.
I also dream to buy a few hectares of land for the plantation of various fruits and vegetables; and budget for this might reach 3 million. My spouse and I are both interested in putting up our own business so I think we'll finally realize our dream not only for ourselves, but more so for our daughter's future. I guess we're going to enter the food industry and/or the rental business which may cost us a total of 5 million, inclusive of business taxes and licenses. And in either business, we plan to employ the less fortunate ones like the out-of-school youths and unemployed fellowmen, together with people below the poverty line. This way, we could uplift them from their present condition in life and bring hope for their future.
About 10 million will be allotted for our (me & my spouse's) prime years. This includes the medical expenses of our parents. Aside from this, I personally plan to have a savings and loan association or cooperative, where anybody could be a member regardless of financial status in life. They may avail of loan facilities, where they will be charged a maximum of 5 percent interest per annum.
Oh, I feel great just imagining that I could make a positive difference in my own life, as well as in other people's conditions.

Hi torchablazed! haha..I have been talking to some people of who won the lottery and a few jokingly said that the winners lived in the palace. haha..However, I am hoping that there are really two legitimate winners and hopefully these two people needed it more than we do. I did placed my bets; unfortunately I didn't win. But if ever i will win such huge amount, I will settle my debt, buy a house and lot for me and my husband, buy a farm for my father. I will also put a trust fund for my nieces and nephews for their schooling and future. I will also be helping so many of my relatives and friends. Will also be sharing some to the charity. It will be great if we can win this lottery one day!
take care and have a great day!
