In the Hebrew Bible why did God create woman after man?

Why did god create women after a man. It seems like women and less deserving off men. What do you guys think about it? I certainly think not, but what did Gensis mean in writing that?

As recorded in the Bible, the woman is created in a special fashion, from the ribs of the man. The reason given was that the man was alone and lonely. And therefore, God created the woman as a helpmeet for the man. The woman of course was cursed to suffer during childbearing due to their sin against God or their disobedience. It's a lesson everyone of us needs to learn!
