Which takes longer?

Which takes longer for you? Starting a discussion that ends up receiving, let's say, 50 responses or replying to 50 discussions?
For me, responding to 50 discussions would take longer because if I start a discussion, I just need to wait and read and comment on people's responses. There is a bigger commitment in commenting back on people but I think it is more fun and worth it.

If I start a discussion, which doesn't happen very often, I then not only respond to those who take time to respond but I also comment again to those who come back.
I don't count the time and feel there is no comparisons that can be made because responses on 50 discussions would be different depending on the topic. Some of my reponses are very short and some are very long.
I don't count the time it takes to respond to people offline and neither do I count it online. Probably because I'm not thinking about the earnings when I'm here - that takes out the fun

For me, its more that I cannot keep track of the time than not keeping it on purpose. Discussions will last weeks, sometimes even months and old discussions may come back from hiding. I guess it is unfair to compare discussions to responses as they require different things for you to get something positive out of them. I never keep count of the money either, unless I am close to payout, like right now. And I agree, it does take the fun out.

Yes then there is no comparison. When the even older discussions get revived and you start responding on them it's impossible to keep track of time. No comparison at all

If you stop commenting to those who respond to yuo do you think they will keep coming back to respond on your further discussions?

I guess it is only hard for some people as it is very easy for me. I am a very person so I do other things while I wait. And I will only respond to about five responses at a time to save time as responding to one every hour would take too much time. Most people do not respond again but that is the point of discussions. It is not supposed to be a one way conversation. Happy mylotting!

For me I believe that it takes longer to wait for responses from the discussion you have started than to respond from the discussions that others have started. Aside from the fact that you are limited to respond from the discussion you have started, you will also run out of ideas to tell to those who responded to you. I mean you are all just discussing a single topic and it ends there. You need to find other topics and respond in order to learn and to earn more points. You might want to check mylot guide to discussions that says under "DON'TS - "Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings." I just got this from mylot tab just below the latest topics or heading of this site. Well for me I have learned that I should just respond more than start a discussion. Besides I get more best responses if I did a good answer than getting more responses from the not so nice discussions I have started.

Well, since different people have different opinions and will likely share different opinions, some discussions could get very interesting. However, I do agree that one will run out of things to say to those that respond. I know we are not supposed to do that but I do it anyway out of respect and not for the money. Happy mylotting!

I myself like to respond more than start. It seems to work better for me. I have started quite a few discussions and got no response on a lot of them. I like to help more than ask so I feel responding helps me earn more too. I have been making more of an effort to start discussions but it seems anything that I would want to ask is already been asked. So to me starting is funnier. Happy mylotting to you and have a good day!

I have a lot of people prefer responding to starting discussions. I think if you try starting a variety of discussions, you will see what mylotters are interested in. But that is good that you like to help, and I think we need more people like you. I hope you try starting discussions every now and then. Happy mylotting!

I always prefer to start a new discussion on my own interest and see people what thinking about it.I use to comment on for all the responses I recieve for the discussions I start if I have enough time.
I will start a discussion after thinking seriously that whether myloters respond to it or not. Most of my discussiong have got good responses and I am so happy to reveal it here.
But responding to a discussion for me is a kind of boring and I will respond to a discussion only if I feel that Iit is worth and I am eligible to respond to the discussion. After getting confirmation from my mind,I will respond.
So in a day I will start about 15 discussions and I may respond about 5 discussions I suppose. When I have short time yo work,I will respond more than starting a new by keeping the money in mind.
Responding to a discussion is also a part of enjoymnent.,,
Happy myloting

I also think about who will be able to respond to my discussions and only start them if I know I can get at least ten or more responses. Most of my discussions have also done very well, with a couple being in the newsletter and having over 50 responses. I prefer to start discussions as well because responding has gotten boring for me. I feel like mylot has lost some quality-discussion posting discussions and responses. Happy mylotting and thanks for responding!

I would probably respond to fifty discussions before receiving fifty responses. I never have much luck on my discussions, so I'm probably better off spending my time reading and replying. I did have one that had fourteen responses...I was in shock! I guess people don't find my interests very interesting themselves. Oh well, I have just as much fun finding different discussions to jump in and respond to.

It seems that a lot of mylotters feel that way. That makes me feel lucky and special that I get so many responses. I think we all need to just practice starting discussions. If you want to receive more responses, try starting a variety of discussions and see which one gets the most discussions. Originality helps too. But I'm glad you have fun on mylot anyway.

Honestly,I may not comment on all the 50 responses _ I dont receive that much for most of my discussions.,and sorry to say,I dont read all the responses I receive sometimes.I prefer to start my own discussion and will be happy to receive 50 responses.Happy mylotting!

I won't mind getting 50 responses for my discussions because I will not only get paid for the comments I am gonna make on those but also I will get paid for the 50 responses I get.
So, indirectly, I will make more money by commenting to 50 responses I get from the users than making 50 responses to other's discussions.
I hope someday, I will find 50 person's interest in my single discussion.

You should not make any assumptions on what we are paid on here at mylot. We are not supposed to talk about earnings or the mylot algorithm for calculating earnings. I think everybody would love to get fifty responses even though it would be hard to comment on all of them. Happy mylotting!

I agree that starting your own discussion you would be dealing with something that interests you therefore making the replies more fun to do.
I enjoy responding to others' discussions too although some days it takes me a little longer to find something I can respond too.
So I guess it depends on the day but on the whole I prefer starting discussions than responding.

resaponding to discussion takes longer as you still have to indicate tags and see to it that your response must be descriptive and has sense while in a started discussion though you have to make it descriptive as well but just maybe in one pharagraph just to start and you may have a one or two lines mostly commenting on reader's response.

Starting discussions could be easy if you know what you want to talk about before hand. I know I brainstorm ideas for discussions at the least likeliest times and have to write them down so I don't forget them. Being descriptive can be hard for simple topics such as this one.

There is no doubt that responding to 50 different discussions would take longer than replying to 50 responses to a disscussion you started. That's because the part that take s the longest in responding is, atleast for me, finding the discussions I feel that I can post a quality response to. I tend to spend most of me time here on mylot, reading discussion topics and questions. I will respond to, maybe 1 out of 5.

I do post more on participating in a discussion because i can't seem to find any topic which i can start with. Most of the questions i have in mind were already been asked by some Mylotters here.
I can see most of the time that topics are always redundant and i said if ever we can see the existing topics in a folder and was organized, maybe the redundancy will be minimized.
I know that you have more obligations on answering back to the users who responded to the topic you started and chose a best response to it. That is why , it will take time for me to start a forum than to just answer and participate in an existing topic.

Usually 50 responses takes longer for me.Because I have interest to read a new discussion and reply, but for a old discussion I will think what to say for 50 response,I think it is hard. But if the discussion is a interesting one and some friends chat with me, I will find the 50 response is too short.
