There is this older lady that started working at my job and she is very rude!! She has only been here for about a couple months and she tries to boss everybody around and people get very frustrated with her! She was really nice when i was training her but now she has just become a real pain in the butt! She is a back stabber big time!! She tries to make everybody fight. I seriously think she is on some kind of drugs or she's bipolar. My manager is sick at the hospital and we don't know when he will be back and she wants to take over i'm not concerned about that because even my boss doesn't like her so i know he would never promote her and as soon as my manager gets back she should be gone but how do i deal with her while she's here?

Is she still on her probation period? Most places you are "on probation" for the first three months and if you are "not working out" in that time, you can be fired for almost any reason without having legal recourse. If I were you, I would talk to the manager about "letting her go" before she gets too out of hand. It is unfortunate that people can act this way, but there are many personalities to deal with in life. We have someone similar at our office, she is in her forties, but she acts like she is a child. She likes to dish things out, but if you respond in the wrong way, she will go into the bathroom and cry. She is absolutely incapable of doing her job, so I'm not sure why they keep her here, but I think it may be them being afraid of having to pay her out she has been here so long. It's because of her that we can't get a decent health plan in the office. She is overweight and on numerous prescriptions and they are expensive. This drives the insurance rates up for the rest of the staff who really cannot afford the premiums. See if you can get rid of her before she becomes "permanent" and you have to deal with her forever. Sounds like she thinks she "has the right" to act this way because she is "older" and probably thinks she has more experience than any of you "whipper snappers".
