Data Entry - Is it easy and is it a scam?

I have seen a lot of data entry companies advertising on the internet - if you pay them e.g. $28 or more you can become a member and earn $200 a day! Is this a scam or can you really make that kind of money with these sites. I am always worried that there will be extra costs involved after I sign up. Is this the case or not?
Is there anyone out there who has done this kind of work? - I will be very interested to hear from them.
Which sites can you recommend where I will not be rippped off?

I can tell you that I did sign up for a data enrty job where the fee was $49.95. It was a total scam. I had to file a complaint with my credit card in order to get my money back as they would not respond to my emails asking for a refund.
I don't know of any sites where you can work and get $200 a day. I do work some sites, but it takes a while for the earnings to add up. If interested, add me as a friend and I will send you the links.

Welcome dinkydo to MyLot, I hope that you will have a great time on here, make plenty of friends and also some money as well.
As for the question that you ask, I have never joined any of these companies Data Entry or Survey sites that want money upfront. It is like putting up a big Scam sign in my opinion, and would leave well alone.
If you are interested in earning from Social Networking, similar to MyLot or Yuwie or MySpace, then take a look at my profile and it is the first square banner. They pay by PayPal, for all activity, comments, uploading photos, videos, joining groups etc and with a bit of effort should easily get $2 a day if not more.
Anyway, best of luck, and Happy MyLotting

Unfortunely, there are not alot of legit data entry job out there, but everyone wants one. So the scammers come out and create websites to prey on people's emotion. www.guru.com is a place where you can big on some small data entry jobs and then work up a reputation in their system. I haven't done that site but it is legit.
I do understand your need to make some extra money at home. I have been working for several call centers for a few years now at home. Mostly early morning and while the kids at school because I need to keep the house somewhat quiet when doing it. It is legit work and there is decent money to be made. http://wahjobs.blogspot.com has a listing of some of those companies.
