I am going in on April 2nd to have a tummy tuck. I have lost 225 pounds and now I need to remove excess skin. I am excited and so nervous at the same time. I have had several surgeries, but each one is so different. I wondered if anyone on here has ever been through this. What was your experience like?

Great job with the weight loss. I haven't had one but I had a good friend that did. She didn't lose a significant amount of weight but as we get older it's harder to keep everything tight and flat. She had minimal pain and loved the results. She had the surgery about 7 years ago and although she's 62, you would never believe it. She still wears a bikini and has a great body. Best of luck to you.

Thank You. That is great that your friend didn't let her age hold her back! So many people do, but I think it is all about feeling your best! Maybe one day I will be in a bikini! Thanks for your response.

Haven't had one but hope to have one once I've lost all the weight I want to lose. Will insurance cover the surgery?

The insurance does not normally cover the surgery unless they can deem it medically necessary. So if a person lost a lot of weight and has some other conditions, like back problems, they may pay then. A friend of mine got hers paid for after loosing 200+ pounds, and repeated hernias.

WOW congratulations to you for losing all that weight. That is fantastic! I bet you feel so much better.
I have not had a tummy tuck but I do have a friend who did. She first had her stomache stapled which some people have problems with and some dont. SHe didnt...after losing as you did, over 200 pounds, she also decided for the tummy tuck to get rid of extra skin.
She was sore for a few days but nothing like she had expected. She had pain killers prescribed and didnt even use them, just the odd tylenol. She was up out of bed, hours after surgery...She said it was a little difficult to hide comfortable positions to sleep at night and she had to be really careful not to lift her young child. THis was about 13 years ago and she looks great. She did not regret one minute of it and says she would recommend it. It was not nearly as bad as she had envisioned and over and healed quickly

That is good to hear. I hope mine goes as well as your friends did. I work out all the time, and I see some results (of course the weight loss) but now I want to see it even more physically...Thanks for your response.
