I love applebee's restaurant because of their tasty foods. One of it that I loved is their mashed potatoes. First, I was inlove with the KFC's mashed potatoes but now to applebees. Who among you love mashed potatoes too? Which restaurant or fastfood mashed potatoes that you liked? What about the home made mashed potatoes? Thank you!

It's really not that hard to make mashed potato's, but you have to start with the right potato - AND NOT A STUPID BOX. Next time you are at the store pick up some Yukon Gold potato's in the vegetable section. Real, fresh potato's remember, not something in a box. Now, if you want "smashed" potato's, you can leave the skins on, but for true "mashed" potato's you have to peel them. I prefer "smashed" because it is just easier to do, just remember to wash the potato's before you cut them. Get a good, SHARP knife - not a steak knife please - and cut the potato's into small pieces, about 1/2 inch square if you can. Now for my secret, which has never been shared before. Place the cut potato's in a colander and rinse them under cold water. Then, move them to a large bowl and cover them with cold water. Let them soak for an hour then drain and rinse them. Soak them again in cold water for another hour then drain and rinse again. You will notice the water is cloudy the first time you drain them, but should be more clear the second time. This soaking takes out a lot of the starch and allows you to whip them better. Now, place them in COLD water in a pan and sprinkle in a little salt (sea salt works best) and a couple tablespoons of butter. Cook them on high heat until the potato's start to fall apart when you stick them with a fork. Drain and rinse the potato's. Now the fun part - mashing. Add a couple tablespoons of butter and whole milk. 2% is OK but do NOT use 1% or skim and for god's sake don't use soy milk. Smash them with a fork then stir them with a whisk if you have one, or use a hand blender to whip them nice and smooth. If you like, you can stir in some Garlic Powder. It sounds like a lot of work, but trust me, you will get better mashed potato's then you have EVER had at a restaurant this way.

I don't think I've ever tried the mashed potatoes at Applebees but I do agree with you about KFC. I love their KFC bowls. If I don't get that, then I'll go for the potato wedges, which as just as yummy. Another place I like is Chicken Express. It's not as well known but seems to be growing over the last few years. They have good mashed potatoes as well. We always order that as one of our sides.

I like applebees pasta bowels. I also like the dishes they have with chicken in It. Though I am not much into and humburgers and rarely eat them I like their cowboy burgers with barbequee sauce.

Applebees potatoes are really good. I get the chicken friend chicken with the baby red mashed potatoes and garlic plus the white gravy. Very yummy. I also really like Chili's potatoes. I had some with chicken the other day and they were amazing. They were red garlic mashed potatoes too I think with green onion, cheese, and white gravy. I gotta say tho, it doesn't get much better than homemade mashed potatoes. I love to use either the Yukon buttery gold potatoes or baby reds and I keep the skins on. I also like to add garlic and pepper. Heh I'm hungry now.

I love mashed potatoes. I like KFC's mashed potatoes especially when topped with the KFC's famous gravy. My mom also makes delicious homemade mashed potato. I like both fastfood and homemade mashed potatoes because either way, it's still healthy food.
