I know that there are a lot of free software available for download. Some people use torrents to download software for free. Some people are using open source software which is free.

I am using free software most of the time.I have pirated windows. So to secure it i use free antivirus, antispyware and firewall.I also download other softwares like music, video player for free.Paid software is good but only for people who can afford it.I don't like trial softwares.I like softwares completely free for life.

There are some threats using downloaded applications from the internet. But there are really some that are also safe to use. I guess the best software to use, as it is safe, I guess, is open source software. My computer I am using now is a government-owned one and one rule in using this computer is not to use pirated or applications downloaded from the internet...

Hi sdas86,Wherever possible i always use open source software,Or freeware,As i believe it to be just as good as paid software,Okay it might not look as polished or have as many options,But for actual functionality,There simply isn't any differance,Well apart from the price,Of course. When i first got my PC i remember buying anti virus software with it,For about 50 pounds,So i took the software home and installed it,It was a leading brand of anti virus and the top of it's field so of course it did a great job,Although it was very buggy and was a resource hog,So one day i decided to uninstall it,Which was also a nightmare. At this point i was a little more knowledgable about PC's and i had learn't about freeware,So i thought i would try a free anti virus program,I chose Avast,Installed it and that was that,I've never had a problem since,It update's itself and is a very small size,I can't believe how good it is,So through this experience my mind was changed and ever since i have used the net to hunt for freeware program's,And it's amazing how many differant categories of freeware there are,My advice is get stuck in.

Yeah, I use all the freewares which can be downloaded from the Internet freely on my computer. I haven't got so much money to afford the expensive softwares. For me, free softwares are my top choice.

I have never paid for any of the software on my computer...I wanted to get the paid version of Limewire but I never got around to it..I wanted to get a better virus protection program but the free one I have works just fine so I guess I won't be buying anything anytime soon...

I use both. I have recommended Open Office to many people who can't afford to buy the MS Office pkgs. And I use a free anti-virus that I have used for years and free fire wall, etc. It just costs too much to buy many of the softwares out there and especially in this economy we have to cut costs where we can. As long as they are safe and effective, why spend all that money!? I do have to spend money on my accounting software Quickbooks, Peachtree, etc for clients. So there are some things you just can't substitute for free where software is concerned depending on if you are working or just using it for personal use, etc.

I use mainly free software in my system. If we feel that the software we are using is not up to our expectation,we can simply switch over to other in case free software. If it is paid one, then our mind will not accept to change it, as we have paid for that. Also if it is a paid one we have to stick onto it and we may not be able to find the best than the paid one ,which may be available. Another important thing is their cost is slightly high.
