Which do you prefer, paperback books or hardcover? Why?
When I was younger I always prefered paperback...plus most of the teen books I read were always in paperback, so maybe I just got used to them like that.
Recently, within the last year, I started going to a new library. This library has very few paperbacks, it's almost entirely hardcover. I have now gotten used to them. I tend to do a lot of reading laying on my stomach in bed and hardcover books stay open easier when reading like that. That is probably why I prefer them now.
When it comes to buying books, I tend to buy paperbacks just becaue they are cheaper. I sometimes get hardcovers if they are on clearance at the bookstore.

Hi, I'm a lazy reader, and enjoy reading books either lying on the sofa/bed. I'm not used to lying on my stomach, so holding a hardcover book is really heavy. Moreover, as you mentioned, soft cover books are cheaper, so most of my books are the soft-cover type.

Paperbacks are cheaper and easily accessible because they are often mass produced but Hardcover books have a longer shelf life and if you're lucky you can occasionally happen upon a first edition. Edward R. Hamilton is a good source for hardback books because they often have books starting at $1 and the shipping is very good. When you order books from their mail order catalog or online they send you their bargain paper with all the $1 books.

I like both really but I don't like the hard covers when they have those like plastic outside covers or whatever you want to call them. They always just kind of hang off of the books sloppily while you're trying to read. But books are books and books are a really great form of entertainment for me.

I agree with you 100%. I do like paperbacks for a few more reasons. Paperbacks are smaller and you can fit more books on a book shelf. Also, they will last as long as a hardcover if you put some clear contact paper on the cover. This makes them sturdier and a little more easy to read.
If I'm really studying a book and making notes in it, I prefer the hardcover.
