I like to decoupage things. I love crafting and it is just calming for me on a hectic day. I just love making things to give as gifts or just keep for my own little trinkets. So what have/do you decoupaged? If you don't know what decoupage is then maybe this will help:Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf, etc. Commonly an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers. Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work. The traditional technique used 30-40 layers of varnish which were then sanded to a polished finish. This was known in 18th century England as The Art of Japanning after its presumed origins.
You can decoupage many things if you have a water stained wall or a scratched up piece of furniture, photograph albums, plates, ceramics, shelving, frames, mirrors. The list has enough possibilities and alot of fun to book and makes a great weekend project or something you can do with your kids or for your kids room.
Here are few links that might give you some help or ideas.

Hi mtdewgurl74! I decoupaged boxes and other stuffs before but I don't do it anymore. I remember the joy and appreciation of those people to whom I have given those boxes wherein they could put their trinkets and accessories in. It was fun and relaxing doing it. I am doing other crafts at the moment which involves mold making. Maybe, I can do decoupage one of these days again.
Take care and have a great day!

I love to do decoupage with children. As a kindergarten teacher, I discovered that if the kids took almost any craft they made and decoupaged it, it would make it look much more professional. One year we took low cardboard boxes that my husband had cut hand holds in the ends of. We covered them with red tissue paper, added our own Christmas tree cutouts to the bottom of the box, and decoupaged the whole thing. Of course, that made it hard and shiny. We gave these trays to parents for Christmas. One child said his mom had put cookies on the tray; another said they used it for Christmas cards. All out of a box and some paper.

I haven't done decoupage since I was in grade school. I have a vase I made for my mom while I was in Campfire Girls. It is just a salad dressing bottle painted gold with a picture of me hold one of my favorite stuffed animals glued to the front. I remember it taking a few weeks to complete as we had to let each coat to dry. I don't get a chance to do many crafts these days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I am sorry to hear that. But that doesn't mean you couldn't decoupage her a vase for flowers for her tombstone with maybe photos that has been printed off of you and her and others and so whoever came would see it and remember the memories of the love and laughter that once filled her home.

I love decoupage, and I've used it in many, many projects with young children. No matter what type of item they have made, giving it a couple of coats of decoupage not only makes another great activity, but it also makes their craft look much more professional. People can never believe how I make such great crafts with Kindergarten-age kids, and I'll never tell them. However, I will tell all you guys. The secret is decoupage!

I like crafting as well.
Decoupage has got to be one of the nicest and simplest ways to make a card special.
It's also a nice way to introduce kids to the world of crafing as they love to make their own designs.

Yep, they can make it theirs. I am going to be teaching my young sister soon. I know she will love it. If she can make a Pinata I know she will love to decoupage. She has her own taste and a mind of her own so I would love to see what she comes up with to decoupage..probably my dad if he stays still long enough..lol
