Are you popular on myLot?

Well, are you?Unfortunately I'm not. It appears I don't start discussions that draw a lot of interest. It's okay though, I still make excellent money each day because I pick discussions that I can really add my two-cents worth. Which means my thoughts and feelings may get a little lengthy. My cousin introduced me to myLot about ten months ago. I've really enjoyed it even though I wasn't coming on much for awhile. I like finding a picture to go with comments too. Happy myLotting

You must be doing something right. Your a blue star 10 with a rating of 98 out of 100, I would say you are popular and well liked.

Really? What determines our star going up? I really don't get large responses to my discussions, this one is an exception and I've had a few others. Mostly I like to respond to others' discussions. Can you break down the popular star system?

Thank-you, that was very informative. I read all that stuff before and forgot about it. I hate to admit it but I forget to use the + and -. I'm going to have to make a conscience effort to remember to use them in order to help other myLotters achieve their reputation goals. I also have to get caught up on 'best response'. I hate using that thing because sometimes all the responses are great and I don't want to chose one over the other.

I don't know either, I know some people have a lot of responses even though the discussion may be along the line of the one before or after it. I do think some people have invested in their friends and in turn have found a following. I don't know if anyone follows my discussion or not, I know I follow my cousin 'whos computer is fried at the moment' and her husband. More times than not I respond, but there are times when I don't. Sometimes we aren't able to contribute anything to the discussion.

I wouldn't say that I am popular on mylot, but I have gotten a lot of responses to my discussions before. It wasn't always this way, nor is it always this way. But after I learned some of the secrets of mylotting I can get a good amount to discussions that I start now. If you want to learn more send a PM my way.

LOL, that's a possibility, but most likely it isn't the case. There are a few others on here that have generated a ton of responses and without having a sexy avatar. Thank you. Yes, it is me, back in the summer of 2007.

lol, if one of the secrets is posting an attractive picture of myself under my name, then that ship has sailed lol. Is that you? If it is, you are pretty as can be. I think one of things I do wrong is I don't use a catchy title. I don't think my subject matter is at fault. I usually post stuff that anyone can relate to. I may just p.m. you about this.

It was for something I commented on. My response got a lot of replies. All telling me how wrong I was. The original op said she had a lot of friends. I'm cool with that, no problem. I just saw things in a different way. When someone said I should keep my mouth shut if I didn't have anything nice to say (mind you this is after I had been told to go to hell among other not so pleasant things) then I shouldn't say anything. I had my last say, called the responder a hypocrite and didn't go back. They can continue on with the pity party all by themselves.

Okay, you've perked my interest. Was it because of something you posted or commented on? I've been misunderstood too. Makes me wanna smack someone when they jump into a discussion and come out of left field with their on version of what they think the topic is lol

I'm not either, because I'm newbie here,... LOL and I was quite stiff to start a discussion. Sometimes I was disappointed when the discussion didn't have any response that why i do more response than starting a discussion. But i have a motivation to be famous or popular. I'm Typically like to be the center of attention. So will someone be my friend and help me to be popular... hehehehe

Welcome cahorini, Don't get discouraged if you don't get the responses you think you should. The first few posts I did I thought I would get plenty or replies, but I didn't. And being popular had nothing to do with it I don't think. It's a hit and miss deal. I've also found out that I our idea of what makes us popular differs from what the site says makes you popular. I thought popular was by how many posts you got to a discussion, according to the FAQs at the bottom, it really depends on how your discussion and comments are rated by other myLotters. How the little + and - is checked. And this is something I have been over-looking when I comment. I noticed that the person above me said for you to apply pictures to your post, that is an excellent idea except I think you have to meet certain criteria before you can do that. Another commenter to this discussion advised me to check out the FAQs at the bottom of the page, that it would answer a lot of my questions, and sure enough, it did. Enjoy

Hi SusanLee! Well I don't know how popular I am. It's been two and half months that I joined mylot. But I was totally inactive for the first month. This month I am getting more and more active. By this rate, lets say I am getting a little bit, a little bit popular each day in mylot lol... And who says you are not popular...How can you say that? you can never know who is noticing you...Well I have seen you here and there in mylot... Nice post! Happy mylotting...

Although I've been around here for over a year I don't spend much time posting discussions. Many of the discussions I do post are not usually based on popular or common everyday occurrences. It also doesn't help that I tend to be long-winded. But that's fine I do have a few regular friends here who seem to like my discussions. I answer the discussions that appeal to me on any particular day and mood and that suits me best.

LOL, I could have been the one to write what you wrote. I also prefer replying to others' discussions, and what I reply to depends on my mood, and like you, I can be long-winded too. I think what bothers me most is when I really need feed-back and only a few people answer. I posted one about wanting healthy sandwich recipes and so far have three responses. The responses these three people gave are wonderful and I am going to try them, each one was different and unique. I think, if these three had these ideas to offer, how much more is out there? Question is, how to get people to share their ideas? I may go back and re-post the title.

I don't start many discussions, and like you, the discussions I start do not draw that much interest, at least not as much as I had expected. But I have some very good friends here who regard me fairly well as far as the responses I offer to their discussions go, and usually what they comment about my responses strike a positive chord with me. I also do receive quite a fair amount of best responses, so that gives me motivation to contribute more. I have shared many images in past discussions and I feel these help make the sharing more interesting. Overall, myLot has been a satisfying experience for me.

It seems like the majority of people prefer to respond rather then start new discussions. I think you're right about the images, I like posting images and I like seeing images that others have posted. (not to mention it's fun searching for something to go with the comment) So far most of the responses to this discussion have been that people do not feel they are all that popular. Maybe we're basing popularity on the wrong thing. I'm basing it on the response level to my discussions, maybe it's based on something else entirely. More then one person said I must be popular since I have the blue, number 10 star. I don't know what that star represents exactly and what has to be going on to make it go up.

Not at all. I just give thanks to the ones that respond to my discussions, I do have a few faithful friends that is there always. The support they give me, give me the motivation to keep going and let me know that I am doing something right. I find MyLot a great place to meet friends on the internet. I have met a few friends that I will keep in contact with even when either I leave or they leave the site.

You have made friends on here that actually cross over into the real world so to speak lol, that's great. I don't always notice who posted the discussion as much as I notice the title and content of the discussion. I don't think I'm a very good follower I guess. But that's okay too, as long as we're all having fun.

Hello SusanLee! I don't think I am popular here. I have some friends here but mylot is a very big place and most of the members came from different country with different timeframe. It's really hard to know members one by one because the time I am sleeping, there are some members who are awake and doing mylotting. While I am awake, there are members who are sleeping. So I can't say whether someone is really popular here or not.

I think I know what you mean. Also, I don't always notice who posts the discussion as much as I do the title and content. Also, my idea of what makes a person popular on here is changing as I read these responses. I don't think it's about the responses we get to our discussions after all. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't think it's that.

Hear! Here! (not sure which on of those is correct so tossed them both in, one has to be right lol) Me too, it's the topic that draws me. I think what might be hindering my discussion is the title, I'll have to work on it. Truth is, I don't want a long response line to my discussions because I don't want to spend hours and hours replying. I feel committed to replying, and with more than a 'thanks for stopping by'. The few times I have managed to get a large response, the responses we basically the same which caused my reply to be the same over and over again. So far I have 29 responses to this discussion, I'm working on answering them now. Fortunately even though they are either a 'yes I am' or 'no I'm not' each one has something in it that perks my interest and gives me a chance to reply without it being the same as the one before it.

I can't remember what criteria we have to meet in order to post pictures and stuff, but as soon as you meet them start taking advantage of it. It will make the pennies really add up. I think it can be found under FAQs. Hope you have a lot of fun here and have lots and lots of friends, you can add me to your list.

I don't think I am all that popular on My Lot either. I usually reply to discussions that I find interesting. I love to discuss travel because it is my top hobby. I start discussions when I am in the mood to but I don't get as many responses as some really popular My Lot members. When I post a new discussion I am grateful for one or two responses and delighted if I get ten. I know there is a strong possibility that nobody will reply and that is quite sad if it happens. I think My Lot is wonderful and I value my friends that I have made on it from around the world. My sister introduced me to My Lot almost two years ago and I am really grateful to her.

It is a lot of fun isn't it? I'm kind of like you, I prefer to comment on someone elses' discussion than start a bunch of my own. Of course if I do start one, I want feed-back. If you look at all the discussions I've started you will see that I don't get a lot of responses. I don't know what that little number above our name is all about. When I do comment I usually comment at length. Not just a Thank-you. Just look at your posting number! 6464...you must have made some good money on here! I have a bad habit getting caught up in discussions that are better left alone, like religious ones lol. It kind of takes me in spells. I'll keep on until I give someone a piece of my mind (and I don't have any to spare) and then we're all mad.

It's good that you have some real loyal friends. I can't comment on even the closest friends discussion if I can't relate to it. My cousin and I post discussions and we don't always respond to each others post because it just isn't something can get into. And that's okay. I guess I have tunnel vision. If I can't give some real feed-back, I just move on. Interest in the topic is important for me. Nice that we have so many topics to pick from lol

I am happier responding to something I'm interested than trying to come up with something to post as a discussion. Of course when I do post something I would like a variety of feed-back. Sometimes I'll post a something silly, and I get squat...I have something I posted the other day that sounded silly but I really wanted input. I got one response, I'm going to go back and re-post it, change the title a little to see what happens. Just so you know, you don't get paid by how many posts you make, but by the quality, length and depth of the post. Now that you are at 500 posts, start adding pictures to your post, it's fun to look for stuff that relates and it'll make those pennies add up faster. You can make just as much money responding to four discussions in depth than you can to 15 with short responses. At least that is what I have observed.

Well SusanLee, I'm not either! I have only started one discussion and it only ha d 5 responses. Now I just look for discussions that I am interested in and reply. I haven't been on mylot very long so maybe I will make some friends in time. When I joined I did it to make money, now I really like reading what everybody is talking about and sometimes get so caught up that I forget to respond.

I dont think I am all that popular, so to speak, on mylot either, but I have only just started posting a few weeks ago. You must be kind of popular to have a ten for a rating! I sometimes have a hard time getting discussions going, too, but I try not to feel bad and go out there and find someone elses to add my 2 cents to. I think my discussions are interesting and they get like 5 response, but once in a while they go on for a few pages. I think it's about timing, too! Seems to me that you come here because you like it and make a little money at it, and I liked your picture that you uploaded. Have a great day!

Thank-you on behalf of the picture. I like to add as many pictures as I can. It's fun and I get an extra penny or two. I mentioned above that I think the problem I have with not getting responses is I'm not putting out a catchy title. I'll have to work on that. On the flip side. I'm pleased that I have had so many replies to this, but I wouldn't want tons of responses to each subject. If someone stops by and comments, I feel obligated to respond, and not just a 'Thanks' I want to give a little feed-back. To be honest, I would rather comment on someone elses' discussion than start a bunch of my own.

I started over a week ago and only started maybe three discussions, but like you no one was interested in the topics. Glad it's not just me. I did okay though for eight days I made $1 and from what I have heard that is like rolling in money on this site. I'm having fun and like you I love the fact I can put my two cents in.

Isn't it fun? Truth is I don't care if I'm popular or not anymore. At first I was a little offended when I didn't get the responses I thought I would. Felt like I was being ignored lol. But it isn't that at all I guess. I think some folks on here have really applied themselves to the site and they have a lot of followers. I have to ask myself, 'do I really want to be obligated to respond to every discussion by my friends even if the topic doesn't interest me?' and the answer is a big NO. And I don't want to post a bunch of starter discussions either because I feel obligated to respond, do I really want to respond to a 100 people that have responded to my discussion? Again that's a big NO. I have seen responses to peoples discussions that go way up there in the numbers. I just mosey along and drop in on this discussion and that discussion and enjoy myself. Enjoy.
