For all of those out there in MyLot Land that drink coffee every morning (day), how do you clean your coffee carafe ( its an ornamental container which is designed to hold hot or cold beverages). I wash mines as usual in warm sudsy dish water, when the coffee stain accumulates and it is hard to remove I fill the carafe up almost to the top with water add 2 tablespoons of Arm & Hammer Baking soda, sit it in the microwave at high or medium temperature for about 3-4 minutes or until it start to boil. Wash it in warm sudsy water rinse and it is sparking clean.
Do you have a special way to clean your coffee carafe?

I noticed that most people are saying bleach, and thats true, however, I'm actually allergic to bleach (among other things). I've always used vinager. I use it for most of my cleaning. Its going to smell like a hot pickle when you run it through the coffee maker but it'll do the same as the bleach. I run it through just like if I were to make coffee about once a week and I never have any problems with it.

We use the vinegar to clean the coffee maker. Not as often as once a week but still pretty often. While it is running through, put a half cup or so of baking soda down each drain. Take that hot vinegar and pour into the soda. Keeps the drains clear and good smelling.

i used to work at a breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant called Carleens, well we mae alot of coffee, and sometimes the dish washers were really busy with other dishes, so what we did was go to another sink, run the hot water, get some dish soap, usually dawn and a scrubber. the scrubber looked like a question mark with a handle, took off the stains pretty well. at the end of the day, wewould take all the coffee makers, and put really got water and soap in them, scrub them out, and give them to the dish washers. they were glass. it worker really well.

Mine is clean. I use vinegar. And it works well. That along with hot water does the trick.

I love using my carafe, it saves so much time reheating my coffee or tea! I thoroughly clean mine once a week, the rest of the week I just rinse it under real hot water. When I do a thorough clean, I take a little squirt of Cascade automatic dishwasher detergent, and fill the rest of the way with real hot water. I let it sit awhile, then use a baby bottle brush to make sure where the glass meets the plastic shell gets clean. For any stains on the outside that won't come off, I use one of those Mr Clean magic erasers. My carafe is at least 10 - 15 years old and still looks spankin' new. I use that magic eraser on my coffee mugs too, works good and is gentle on the finish. (I would never use bleach because I've read that the bleach leaches into the plastic.)

In the restaurants we would use water, lemon wedges, salt, and crushed ice. Swirl that around and the acid cuts the grungy coffee oils. The salt polishes the inside of the pot. It rinses out really well. Use it on tea pitcher and the coffee pots themselves. Another easy trick is to dissolve a denture tablet in the container, let it set over night, and rinse. Also sparkling clean.

I think my husband just washes it in warm soapy water. Another quick fix is to fill with cold water and drop a denture tablet in.

I use dishwashing liquid for my carafe...but I'll take note of your solution just in case I encounter some stubborn stain.
Thanks so much for this info...
Happy mylottin!

I am the bleach queen, I use it to clean everything including the coffee carafe. Actually I am just lazy and it is so easy, just fill it almost all the way up with water and add some bleach, let it sit and rinse well. I do the same thing with coffee cups, soup bowls, and even put some in the toilets everyday.
