Have you ever received a gift from someone and wanted to return?

I was given a gift recently, that I would love to return, but I won't because I have started to use it, even though it has a huge limit on the number of features than I'm used to.
Have you ever wanted to return a gift someone gave you? Do you return it? What was the reason?

I got a real awful gift once, but I didn't return it I just couldn't stand to look at in, it humiliated me and I threw it out.
Once a got a wall plaque I really didn't like, I stored it in the cupboard for years and then one day I just took it out and put it on the wall

it suited the decor I had more after the years went by, because I didn't have the same house or furnishings etc.

After all of those years, do you think it looked better all of a sudden, or did you just need the storage space?

I frequently receive gifts that I want to return. Often they are from relatives who haven't seen me in awhile and still think I'm ten. If I know what store they bought it in I might just take it back myself and never tell them especially if it's Christmas and stores have more open return policies than the rest of the year. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but what is the use of having a useless gift. If I can't return it I tend to give it away. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it can't have a happy life with someone else.

I don't envy you one bit, but do understand where you are coming from.

No, I have never thought of returning a gift given to me because for me it's a bit impolite to do that. No matter how I disliked the gift, I would never return it because it's really hurting on the part of the giver. It should be best appreciated no matter what because it's a gift freely given.

I know what you mean, but if I give something to you, it no longer belongs to me. So I do not have a "right" to dictate what you do with my gift or gifts.

I have returned one gift. It was a printer that was cheap and I already had a very good one. I used the money to buy ink.
I have re-gifted a few times. I think that when you already have one can opener then it is ok to give the other 5 away.
There are many gifts that I recieve that I put away and store until I need, like baking pans that are glass. They are a great gift but I wait until one of mine breaks before I open the new ones that I recieve.

I like those double or more gifts you receive from random family members that just didn't know or from folks who barely know you. They are the best.
