I have learned to swim for many years, but I still can not handle it. I don't know why it is so difficult for me and I am confused of that. I can't breathe naturely in the pool. How about you, are you good at swimming? And if it is hard for you?

I learnt to swim when I was a college student. We have swimming lessons organized then. I mastered swimming after 3 lessons. I think the coach's way of teaching is quite useful / helpful to master swimming. Let me share with you, First, you need to learn how to exchange breath while you're swimming. While we're swimming, we cannot breathe using nose as it will cause choke to the trachea. We should use our mouth to execute breath exchang. Secondly, learn how to make yourself floating in the water and keep the body poised. Using your lower limbs to flap the water to generate the momentum and the upper limbs to strike to control the orientation. You can try to simulate by the side of the swimming pool. You can do it procedurally. First, keep your upper limbs straight and immobile and just using your lower limbs to flap the water to create the momentum, in this way, you can find you're moving/floating in the water. and then try to exchange breath by your mouth. Try to do it adroitly. Next, while you're performing the flapping and breathing, try to strike the water by your upper limbs to control the orientation in the water. Next, Link the two actions up and practise, you will find you actually have mastered how to swim, I believe, with above steps followed and practise yourself a lot, you can find that actually swimming is not so difficult as someone are fearing. Have a try!! Hope you can swim soon following my advice. :)

I spent two month to learn swimming three years ago, but I am still not good at it. Just as you, I can't breathe naturely in water, every time I drink some water. Maybe I need more practice, or change method.

I learned to swim when I was a sophomore.I think if you meet a good teacher who could teach you how to breathe well, that is so vital for you to master swimming technique......Hope you can swim freely as soon as possible...

I feel it is hard for me though I just went to swim for 3 times, certainly, I still don't tell me that I can swim. At first time, I can swim about 3-4 miles without drinking, so I feel good. I think I am a smarter, I can swim in my first time. But when I go to swim again and again, I still just can swim about 3-4 miles. AHO, eventually I know that swim for 3-4 miles is easy but breathe naturely, pretty pose, good speed is hard. I must work hard to study swimming, aha.

Swimming is also hard for me. I have tried taking lessons several times. I feel like if I fall in a pool I'll be okay, but if I'm swimming for fun I won't swim where it is too deep. And I don't really swim doing an actual swim stroke, I just kind of go with anything that will get me across the pool. But I am not as fearful as I probably should be and therefore I still manage to have fun in the pool. And the really odd thing is, even though I'm a horrible swimmer I love to dive! I'm not great at diving, but I have a lot of fun with it. I will dive into deep water if I think that I can glide to the shallow end.

I can't swim until I was 16. Before that,I was afraid of swimming.I didn't go swimming without a swimming ring, for I believed that I was not able to float without it.But in the year that I was 16,when I was swimming with a friend of mine one time,he told me that if my lung was full of air and I held breathing,I could float without any help. And I tried that.I succeeded!

I am good at swimming. It's not very hard. My view is if you relax your muscle totally, you will float on the water. And I think that training is very impotant. When I learnt swimming, the coach asked me to practise on the floor, one motion for 1000 times. After 5 days, I could swim.

I've learnt to swim for several times.BUt still can't swim.WHEN i JUMP INTO the swimming pool,I will directly fall into the ground of the pool and can't get myself to the surface.IT's difficult for me to master the skill of it.After several times of practice which end in failure,I just quitted.

I can swim but not deep enough like over my height of 5'7. I just recently started to swim when my former girlfriend invited me for a swim. You just have to relax so you won't panic. That's the key. Because when you are not relaxed, there's a tendency that you would not be able to execute the stroke well. Panic causes drowning too.

I learnt to swim when I was about four - as I grew up with a swimming pool in the yard. That said, I always hated swimming practice at school, not because I wasn't able to do it, but just because it was always so competitive. I'm not an Olympic althete, so I've always been of the mind that swimming should be about fun, not a contest.
