Yesterday everywhere I went it stunk outside. Smelled very bad almost like a sewage was leaking. Everyone in my area noticed it. I figured maybe some horse manure spilled someplace. We do live kind of close to farms etc.. Have you ever noticed that the air was really stinky one day

Dont say that!! I lived most of my life in New Jersey by the beach and it never smelled bad. I know if you traveled near Elizabeth there is a lot of stink from the factories. But by the beach was always nice and fresh.

Actually, it disturbed my olfactory organ daily because the dumping truck collecting garbage in the early morning at my living area. Sometime when I think back, the stink is an indicator for them doing their good routine services and when found none, meaning that they are unpunctual or absent for their duty. Bad smell comes with good reason...LOL!.

Especially in the Spring, but we know that stink is just the skunks visiting on their way to find a little romance. I always go out and smell the air before I let the dog out. Dog and skunk just don't mix. Just a point of interest horse doesn't smell like sewage, that's a human smell

I know manure would smell a little bit different from what we where smelling. So I dont know what could have caused this stink. Maybe a sewer main break???

sometimes I do notice an odor in the air
we live not far from the stock yard/cattle auction house so of course we get that smell occasionally
and then there is the occasional skunk that passes through or gets squished on the highway
but sometimes there is a pleasant aroma
people around here burn the tumbleweeds and sometimes sage brush gets mixed in with it
oh it smells so good

I think sometimes drains can be opened by people who are messing around, and this allows the smells to escape into the environment. And then sometimes, they can get blocked, so the sewage doesn't flow away properly. It is unpleasant, but until the authorities come along, there isn't a lot that we can do about it. . Derek

During the summer, it usually stinks outside. Mainly because we live on a farm, so it's common to step outside for a fresh breath of air, and only breathe in the fresh smell of cow manure! It doesn't bother me though. I've lived around it my entire life, so it actually smells pretty good to me.

Sure. In my city, it depends on what area you're in. In one area, you'll smell sewage because of local landfills and such. In another area (such as downtown and on the highway), you will probably smell gasoline & exhaust fumes (as it's quite smoggy here). And in other, more "rural" places (with corn fields), you smell animal waste. It's pretty unpleasant, but you get used to it after a while.

I live in an area that is about 10-15 miles from a couple paper mills so bad smelling are a norm here...LOL! I will say that most the time I can't smell it where I live but as soon as I get within 5 miles of it I can smell it. Also if the clouds are really low it get really really bad. Smells like sewage too. If they are running the pulping mill section it gets even worse.
Sure hope it goes away for you.
